Job summary

vConstruct, a Pune-based Construction Technology company, seeks process-oriented Civil Engineers for the role of Structural Steel Modeler. The candidate will develop high quality Tekla models, generate drawings, and coordinate with project teams on-site in Pune (Baner, Magarpatta).

Strong BIM knowledge and hands-on experience with rebar processes are essential. Ideal candidates will have 3+ years in Tekla/3D modeling, solid communication skills, and willingness to train junior staff.

Qualifications

• Over 3 years of hands-on experience in Tekla Structures or other 3D modeling tools.
• Knowledge of rebar process including design, procurement, fabrication and installation using BIM/VDC processes.
• Working knowledge of structural codes and construction methods in India and USA.

Responsibilities

• Study project documents (drawings, RFIs, addendums) and identify missing information or discrepancies.
• Develop high quality 3D models for steel using Tekla and apply constructability knowledge.
• Create accurate 2D drawings from models and ensure quality before client submission.
• Coordinate with project lead/manager to plan implementation and deliverables on schedule.
• Participate in trade coordination meetings to update models with changes.
• Set up project Tekla models and templates; provide guidance and training to team members.

Job description

vConstruct, a Pune based Construction Technology company seeks process- oriented individuals with academic or professional background in Civil Engineering for the role of Structural Steel Modeler.

Location : Pune (Baner, Magarpatta)

Key Responsibilities:

Structural Steel Modeler is accountable to create high quality deliverables and outputs on schedule, act independently to manage the assigned work and deliverables, work closely with project lead and project manager to plan project implementation. Indicative responsibilities include:

• Carefully study project documents - drawings, details, RFIs and addendums. Identify missing information, discrepancies and constructability issues.
• Develop high quality, accurate 3D models for steel using Tekla software and applying knowledge of structural steel systems, constructability and previous experience.
• Participate in trade coordination meetings to identify and incorporate changes in model.
• Create accurate 2D drawing deliverables from model.
• Check the quality of work for accuracy before submissions to client teams. Meet quality metrics established for project.
• Project set up, including model set up in Tekla.
• Communicate with client regarding project deliverables. Most client meetings will happen between 5 PM and 10 PM IST.
• Improvise best practice technical and software workflows.
• Training and coaching other team members, doing technical training of new hires.
• Research new features in tools and explore automation to improve current workflows.

Successful candidates in this role will be flexible, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines. The successful candidate will possess:

• Passion for construction processes, BIM, BIM softwares and construction technology.
• Over 3 years of hands‑on experience in working in Tekla Structures or other 3D modeling tools for modeling and drawing generation, drawing template settings and custom components.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience with client relation management a plus.
• Previous experience in team management and training a plus.
• Knowledge of rebar process including design, procurement, fabrication and installation using BIM / VDC processes for steel structures.
• Working knowledge of structural codes and construction methods in India and U.S.A.
