Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Chennai is seeking a Sr. Technical Advisor to lead the design of electrical systems in oil and gas and power industries. Responsibilities include managing large teams, developing and reviewing project scope, and delivering technical training. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead application of Cost Competitive Execution techniques.
  • Manage project set-up, schedules, and progress reporting.
  • Mentor young and middle-level engineers and lead designers.
  • Develop and deliver technical training on engineering topics.
  • Prepare Material Requisition and perform offer evaluations.

Skills

Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards
Expert knowledge of electrical equipment like MV/LV Switchgears
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications
Effective communication with diverse stakeholders
Ability to perform/review complex engineering calculations

Sr. Technical Advisor

Summary Section

As part of the electrical engineering team you will be involved in the design of electrical systems for the oil and gas and/or power including renewable energies industries. This may be a conceptual study or front‑end engineering design (FEED) or a design execution involving the procurement of all equipment and detailed drawings for the construction and commissioning of an entire facility.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a leader in applying Cost Competitive Execution techniques and develop the most cost‑effective total project solution for the discipline engineering work
  • Develop and review project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other project baseline documents for all phases of projects
  • Project set‑up, developing control‑level schedules, progress reporting and project close‑out
  • Manage and lead large teams
  • Act as mentors for young and middle level engineers and lead / senior designers
  • Develop and deliver technical training on various engineering topics
  • Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including workforce forecasts
  • Performance management of project / department personnel
  • Establish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts
  • Develop and review specifications, including design criteria
  • Prepare Material Requisition, perform offer evaluation, TBE, vendor drawing review, attending FAT for all major electrical equipment / packages
  • Ability to perform / review complex engineering calculations including Power System Studies using ETAP/SKM
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
  • Effort‑hour estimating and staff forecasting
Qualifications Including Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Develop overall power distribution scheme and SLDs for large industrial projects
  • Expert knowledge of electrical equipment like MV/LV Switchgears, transformers, UPS etc.
  • Advance level of proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications specifically: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Word
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Full Time) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering
  • Over 20 years of experience in Oil & Gas / industrial projects
