Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Bengaluru (onsite) seeks a Senior Systems Software Engineer (Platforms Developer, Interfaces/Optics) to design and develop platform system software for cloud-ready routing products. You will work end-to-end across architecture, design, coding, testing, and integration with a focus on high availability and performance.

The role requires 14+ years experience, strong C/C++ skills, and hardware-aware software development in distributed systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Typically 14+ years experience.
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills are key.
• Strong in C, C++ programming fundamentals.
• OO analysis/design and distributed systems experience is a plus.
• Proficient near hardware - device drivers, system bring up, Linux/OS fundamentals.
• Proficient in troubleshooting and debugging complex issues.
• Knowledge of firmware and hardware-level optics, PCIe, SPI, I2C, retimers, FPGA, CPLD, MDIO, Ethernet interfaces (10ge-400ge), timing protocols (SyncE, PTP).
• Strong data-structure fundamentals.
• Experience designing fault-tolerant and resilient systems is a plus.
• Ability to articulate technical details via strong communication and documentation skills.
• Quick learner, self-driven and a team player.

Senior Systems Software Engineer (Platforms Developer, Interfaces/Optics)

This role has been designed as Onsite with an expectation that you will primarily work from an HPE office.

Team Charter:

Be part of a team, which is shaping Junipers vision of next generation cloud converged metro and edge routing products and solutions. You will be part of a highly energetic team responsible for designing and developing Platform System software for Juniper cloud ready routing products and will go through end-to-end life cycle of the products. These best-in-class networking products run on state-of-the-art distributed Junos Evolved Network Operating system with emphasis on high performance, high scalability, fault tolerance and high availability of these products.

What youll do:

• Leads multiple project teams of other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners responsible for all stages of design and development for complex products and platforms, including solution design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration.
• Manages and expands relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on software systems design and development.
• Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with systems design and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
• Provides domain-specific expertise and overall software systems leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.
• Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the software systems design organization.
• Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members.

What you need to bring:

• Strong fundamentals in data structures.
• Experience working on paradigms to design fault tolerant and resilient systems will be a big plus
• Ability to articulate technical details via good communication and documentation skills.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Experience in overall architecture of software systems for products and solutions.
• Designing and integrating software systems running on multiple platform types into overall architecture.
• Evaluating forms and processes for software systems testing and methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels.
