Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Bengaluru is seeking an senior software systems engineer to lead multiple project teams through design, development, testing and integration of complex platform software. You will own architecture and end-to-end delivery within Junos/Junos Evolved and guide interfaces across hardware and software components.

The role requires strong problem-solving, extensive system design experience, and excellent communication skills in English.

Job Family Definition:

Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design.

Contributions impact technical components of HPE products, solutions, or services regularly and sustainable. Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Provides expertise and partnership to functional and technical project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine best method for achieving objectives. May provide team leadership and mentoring to others.

Responsibilities

What you will do

• Leads multiple project teams of other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners responsible for all stages of design and development for complex products and platforms, including solution design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration.
• Drive system design and implementation for platform software across core networking subsystems, including:
• Chassis/line-card platform services, Ethernet interfaces, optics, and the underlying system infrastructure that ties hardware and software together
• Own architecture and end-to-end delivery within Junos or Junos Evolved - define interfaces between hardware and software and between various software components, evaluate design trade-offs, implement, and integrate across the networking software stack.
• Partner with system and solution test teams to set quality bars and build performance and reliability requirements, feedback to strong test strategy, and shorten debug/triage cycles.
• Work with support teams as the engineering owner – to perform root-cause analysis on production issues, drive fixes to closure, and continually harden the switching platform for best customer experience.
• Familiarity with 100G/400G/800G optics (LR4, CWDM4, DR4, FR4), transceiver qualification, and high-density fixed/modular platforms.
• Scripting and automation experience — Python, pytest, Robot Framework,, or gNMI-based automation.
• Exposure to telemetry and monitoring (gNMI/OpenConfig, SNMP).

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Typically 10-15 years of experience.

• Extensive experience with multiple software systems design tools and languages.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Experience in overall architecture of software systems for products and solutions.
• Designing and integrating software systems running on multiple platform types into overall architecture.
• Evaluating forms and processes for software systems testing and methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels
