Job summary

IPS, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to assess project requirements, develop design documentation, and coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams in Mumbai. The role focuses on GMP-compliant layout development, process modeling, and equipment specification for regulated facilities.

You will prepare PFDs, data sheets, and control logic, review supplier offers, and participate in Hazop studies, ensuring quality and timely delivery across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 6–12 years of experience in process design, engineering, or process architecture.
• Experience in regulated industries (pharma, biotech, chemicals, FMCG) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, HAZOP, and process safety.

Responsibilities

• Assess project requirements, break into tasks, and coordinate scope with Project Manager.
• Develop conceptual and preliminary design write-ups and review design documents for compliance.
• Create PFDs, data sheets, and process calculations; specify equipment and vendors.
• Lead process design coordination with architecture and other engineering disciplines; support QA and client communications.

Job description

• Assess the requirements of a project w.r.t. process, break the project requirement into tasks, and work with a Project Manager to determine scope of work.


• Corrects and updates design documents. Develop solutions to design problems. Reviews drawings and documents to assure compliance with company, regulatory agencies, and production standards.


• Ability to develop Conceptual and Preliminary “BOD” write-ups based on client meetings


• Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.


• Assign and review work of process design team. Check progress of work and alert Project Manager to change of scope or additional services.


• Capable of recognizing design support abilities of the team and empowering those to have opportunities to elevate their design capabilities through my challenging assignments.


• Ensures project specifications are delivered with company quality standards and are delivered on time as required by the client.


• Has comprehensive knowledge of layout development and GMP cleanroom compliance experience.


• Demonstrates the ability and interest to develop conceptual ideas to present to clients during proposal presentations.


• Review of Basic Process / URS package given by client.


• Develop Block Diagrams /Process Flow Diagrams for Process and Utilities. Research equipment selection from catalogs as needed for the project.


• Preparation of Process Data Sheets for Fabricated & Bought out Plant Equipment’s covering Reactors, Tanks , Pumps, Heat Exchangers & Storage Tanks etc..


• Process Calculations like pipe sizing for Liquid, Steam & Gas Services.


• Pump Head selection, Storage Tank Vent sizing, Nitrogen Blanketing for Storage Tanks.


• Develop Control logic & Process Interlocks for Smooth Process Operations


• Review of Supplier offers and technical discussions with Bidders for Plant Equipment’s


• Review / Approval of various documents submitted by suppliers for Plant Equipment’s.


• Participation in Hazop Studies.


• Ensure acceptable levels of quality and checks for coordination of work to ensure documents reflect design intent and necessary coordination


• Coordinates with architectural team and other related engineering disciplines. Attend meetings and participate in the coordination of the work.


• Coordinate all aspects of project document completion within the company and externally with clients and other design professionals. Excellent written and oral communications skills.


• Promote use of and participate in development of company design and production standards.


• Assist in the education and development of design staff and act as a resource for design questions.


• Special projects as assigned.

Managerial

• Responsible to liaise with Clients, System Suppliers and Engineers of various disciplines.


• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


• Should have Leadership qualities, Team Management.


• Conduct site visits to understand project issues and resolve them.


• Any other responsibility that may be assigned to you by your manager time to time.

Qualifications & Requirements

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in process engineering, process modeling, and GMP‑compliant layout development


• Proficiency in preparing PFDs, data sheets, process calculations, and control logic


• Experience in equipment specification and vendor coordination


• Knowledge of regulatory and safety requirements (GMP, HAZOP, process safety)

Education & Experience
