Job summary

GlaxoSmithKline in Bengaluru is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer specializing in Azure Cloud Integrations to drive architectural excellence and end-to-end integration across our enterprise ecosystem.

You will own design, delivery oversight, and strategic partnerships with product management, leveraging API management, Service Bus, Event Grid, Logic Apps, and Functions to deliver scalable solutions while adhering to security and compliance.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience with APIs and integration services.
• Hands-on with cloud microservices and Azure services (Service Bus, Functions, Logic Apps, Monitor).
• Experience with API gateways and integrating cloud SaaS and enterprise apps.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal Engineer specializing in Azure Cloud Integrations services to drive technical excellence, application ownership, and seamless integration across our enterprise ecosystem. This role demands deep technical expertise in Integration platforms, Cloud architecture, Azure infrastructure services for integrations, Event driven architecture, API Management, along with the ability to partner with Product Management, technical leaders, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and high-impact solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• 1. Application Ownership & Technical Leadership Lead the design, development, and maintenance of Azure cloud Integration platform solutions including configurations and customization, ensuring performance, scalability, and security. Serve as a design authority, providing architectural guidance for integrations. Implement and enforce ITMS (IT Management System) controls, ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
• 2. Delivery Oversight & Vendor Management Oversee end-to-end project delivery, working with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely, high-quality implementations. Manage vendor-led scrum teams, providing technical oversight and governance to align with business objectives. Define and enforce best practices, coding standards, and security policies across development efforts.
• 3. Azure Cloud Integrations Expertise Architect and develop scalable Azure integrations with enterprise systems using Azure services – API management, Service Bus, Event grid, Functions, Logic Apps, Log Analytics, Monitors & App insights. Optimize integrations services across enterprise applications and third-party applications to ensure seamless data flow and enhance operational efficiency.
• 4. Strategic Partnerships & Business Alignment Work closely with Product Management and key business stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions. Drive alignment between engineering teams and enterprise architecture within a federated architecture model. Influence roadmap decisions by providing technical insights and feasibility assessments.
• 5. Innovation & Continuous Improvement Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and Salesforce advancements to drive innovation. Implement automation, DevOps best practices, and CI/CD pipelines to accelerate development cycles. Foster a culture of continuous learning and mentorship within the engineering team.

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience, with deep expertise in developing APIs and integration services.
• Strong hands‑on experience with cloud based microservices architectures and Azure services (Service Bus, Azure Functions with C# AND/OR Java, Logic Apps, Azure Monitor & Event Grid).
• Experience developing scalable, high performant API services & working with API Management platforms – Kong or Azure/AWS/GCP API gateways.
• Proven ability to design and implement integration services between cloud saas applications, enterprise apps and EDI Integrations.
• Experience managing ITMS controls, security, and compliance in a regulated environment.
• Strong leadership, vendor management, and delivery oversight experience.
• Ability to partner effectively with Product Management and cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and business leaders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferable to have Azure certifications (Azure solutions architect expert, Azure developer associate).
• Experience in Pharma, Healthcare, or Life Sciences industries.
• Knowledge of AI/GenAI‑powered CRM enhancements and automation tools.
