Responsibilities

• Design and optimize multi-layer PCB layouts for various products, ensuring electrical, mechanical, and manufacturability requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and peer design reviews for junior engineers to ensure high-quality layouts.
• Select components and footprints with attention to signal integrity, PDN, thermal management, and EMC/EMI considerations.
• Perform SI, PDN, and thermal analyses to validate layouts prior to fabrication.
• Maintain ECAD libraries, design rules, and project templates across the team.
• Generate fabrication and assembly documentation (Gerber, ODB++, drill drawings, BOM).
• Coordinate with manufacturing partners to resolve questions during prototyping and production.

Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior PCB Layout Engineer to play a key role in our engineering team. The Senior PCB Layout Engineer will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and executing complex printed circuit board (PCB) layouts for a wide range of innovative electronic products. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 6 years of hands‑on PCB layout design experience, strong technical guidance capabilities, and deep expertise in Altium and OrCAD/Allegro Designer software.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with hardware design engineers, mechanical engineers, and clients to understand design requirements, stackup constraints, and project timelines.
• Design and optimize complex, multi‑layer PCB layouts for various electronic products, ensuring compliance with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturability requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and perform design reviews for junior team members to ensure adherence to high‑speed layout guidelines and quality standards.
• Select appropriate components and footprints, managing component placement for signal integrity, power integrity, thermal management, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI).
• Perform and evaluate signal integrity (SI), power delivery network (PDN), and thermal analyses to validate and optimize complex PCB layouts prior to fabrication.
• Maintain and expand ECAD component libraries, design rules, and project templates across the engineering team.
• Generate complete fabrication and assembly documentation packages, including Gerber files, ODB++, drill drawings, assembly drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Work directly with manufacturing partners to resolve technical queries (EQs) during prototyping and volume production, ensuring smooth assembly and high yield.
• Stay up‑to‑date with industry trends, state‑of‑the‑art layout methodologies, and tool updates to continuously improve design quality and team productivity.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering or a related field.
• 5 to 6 years of experience in PCB layout design, with expertise in complex, multi‑layer, and high‑speed digital designs.
• Expert‑level proficiency in Altium Designer and OrCAD/Allegro software tools.
• Proven expertise in high‑speed digital, mixed‑signal, RF, and HDI layout techniques, as well as robust DFM, DFA, and DFT considerations.
• In‑depth understanding of PCB fabrication processes, layer stackup design, impedance control, and assembly workflows.
• Proven ability to mentor junior layout engineers and conduct detailed design peer reviews.
• Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving capabilities with strong attention to detail.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of working successfully in cross‑functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with simulation and analysis tools such as Ansys SIwave, HyperLynx, PSpice, or Simulink for electrical, SI/PI, and thermal analysis.
• Familiarity with mechanical design software like SolidWorks or AutoCAD for complex 3D PCB enclosure integration and clearance checking.
• Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards (e.g., IPC-2221, IPC-A-610) and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., FCC, CE, UL) with experience designing for compliance.
• Prior experience establishing component library management protocols and design review checklists.
