Job summary

EMS Technologies Pvt Ltd is seeking a mechanical design engineer to drive 3D modelling, 2D drafting and assembly using Solid Edge and SolidWorks. You will support new product development, perform simulations, and create assembly drawings and BOMs for metal parts.

You’ll collaborate with operations to ensure designs are manufacturable, meet cost targets, and align with drafting standards and design verification processes.

Qualifications

• Proficient in 3D modelling, 2D drafting and assembly using Solid Edge and SolidWorks.
• Experience in simulation (thermal, stress) and design verification testing.
• Knowledge of drafting standards and material specifications.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes for metal parts.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical design and support for new product development.
• Preparing and presenting new product development concepts.
• Mechanical design of SPM machines for wave soldering and related applications.
• Generation of assembly drawings and bills of materials.
• Checks on drawings and parts libraries for accuracy and up-to-date status.
• Works with operations to ensure designs are manufacturable.

Job description

Proficient in 3D modelling, 2D drafting and Assembly in Solid Edge and SolidWorks
Carries out detailed mechanical design work including 3D modelling, simulation (e.g. thermal, stress, Load) & design verification testing, as required
Good knowledge of Drafting standards, Part & Assembly Modelling Practices
Knowledge of Material specifications, design standards for machining Parts, Fabrication & Assemblies
Understanding of Manufacturing process of Metal Parts.
Mechanical design and support for new product development
Preparing and presenting new product development.
Mechanical design of SPM machines for wave soldering machine & any application as per specification.
Follows departmental processes relating to management of designs.
Specification compliance of designs. Agreeing the mechanical design approach with the Manager Design.
Mechanical part selection taking into consideration obsolescence, availability and cost.
BOM & costing for manufacture & purchase.
Responsible for generation of Assembly drawings and bills of materials.
Responsible for meeting design to cost figures.
Responsible for carrying out design change requests in a timely manner
Ensures the mechanical design output fits in with all other aspects of the design.
Works closely with operations, manufacturing, and production engineers to ensure products are designed for manufacture.
Creation of technical reports and documentation as required.
Responsible for checking drawing/ parts libraries are up to date and correct regularly.
Responsible for checking and validating Mechanical Engineers designs and drawings where required.
