Job summary

Saini Electrical is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to prepare and modify 2D drawings and 3D models of motor components, and to support design activities across cross-functional teams in India. The role involves GD&T, BOM management, and basic design analysis using ANSYS.

You will collaborate with Production and Quality to resolve design issues, update drawings in ERP, and drive cost reduction and process improvements while maintaining records and adhering to standards.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals.
• Proficiency in any relevant 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or equivalent.
• Understanding of GD&T, tolerances and fits.
• Basic knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, welding, casting and sheet metal.
• Basic understanding of DFM / DFA principles.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
• Basic knowledge of BOM and engineering change management.
• Knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and modify 2D drawings and 3D models of mechanical components of electric motors and other products.
• Assist in developing mechanical designs as per project specifications and engineering requirements.
• Prepare and modify 2D drawings, 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.
• Prepare GA drawings, BOMs and design documentation under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Assist in basic mechanical calculations and selection of components such as bearings, shafts and other motor components.
• Apply knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, fits, materials and manufacturing processes in design and drawings.
• Assist in preparing and updating design BOMs and drawings in ERP as per company procedures.
• Support basic design analysis using ANSYS or equivalent tools for stress, vibration and other engineering requirements.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality and other cross-functional teams to resolve design and manufacturing-related issues.
• Incorporate approved design changes, revisions and modifications in drawings, models and BOMs.
• Support cost reduction, design optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical support to the manufacturing team for drawing and design-related clarifications.
• Maintain proper records of drawings, models, BOMs and engineering documents.
• Ensure timely completion of assigned design activities and follow applicable quality and engineering standards
