Job description

Main Purpose

The Senior Lead Engineer Civil shall be responsible for leading all civil and structural engineering activities for the project, ensuring technical integrity, quality, timely execution, and alignment with approved project scope, budget, and schedule.

Job Accountabilities:

• Coordinate and supervise the Civil & Structural engineering aspects of the project to ensure technical objectives are met within the approved scope, budget, and schedule.
• Supervise, oversee, and coordinate timely technical reviews of Civil & Structural engineering deliverables developed by engineering consultants/vendors, ensuring design optimization in compliance with relevant codes and best practices.
• Contribute to project planning and scheduling activities.
• Play a key role in evaluating various design options, developing concepts, and supporting design selection.
• Identify data requirements, data gaps, and technical studies required for the project from a civil, structural, and foundation design perspective.
• Prepare Scope of Work (SOW), BOQ/MTO, and man-hour estimates for detailed engineering and EPC contracts.
• Coordinate and perform technical reviews and rate analysis during vendor prequalification and bid evaluation stages.
• Carry out interface coordination with other engineering disciplines and construction contractors.
• Ensure design optimization, technical integrity, and quality throughout the project.
• Provide technical guidance for developing new specifications and updating existing specifications in line with project requirements.
• Review 3D models through SPR/other model review tools to ensure clash-free designs.
• Supervise and coordinate discipline engineers' participation in layout reviews, design reviews, and technical workshops.
• Prepare engineering deliverables by carrying out analysis and design calculations using appropriate software.
• Mentor and supervise Senior and Junior Civil Engineers.
• Visit project sites to review and monitor construction activities, ensure mechanisms are in place to meet construction quality requirements, resolve site engineering issues, and work with the Construction Manager to expedite site works.

Skills Required:

• Familiarity with working in a 3D environment and proficiency in STAAD.Pro software.
• Proficiency in technical bid analysis.
• Strong understanding of project planning and schedule analysis.
• Proficiency in rate analysis.
• Ability to conduct technical analysis of various design options.
• Proficiency in understanding Scopes of Work and assisting in the estimation of budgets and man-hour requirements for assigned projects.
• Technical competence and awareness of applicable codes and standards for general civil and underground works to coordinate and resolve technical issues during project execution.
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS).
• Strong team-player orientation with good communication and presentation skills.
• Experience in the design of foundations and structures.

Qualification:

• B.E/B.Tech in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a Lead Civil & Structural role.
• 15-20 years of overall experience in detailed engineering and project execution in the Hydrocarbon or other heavy industries.
• Exposure to the construction of civil and structural works at site.
