Overview

BIW Weld Shop Layout Engineer role focusing on layout planning and factory design for automotive manufacturing. 3 to 8 years of experience in BIW Weld Shop assembly line layout building; manufacturing / shop floor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare 3D and 2D layouts using MicroStation (3D & 2D Layout).
• Develop 3D FactoryCAD layouts as per OEM standards; build 3D models including tools/equipment, light screens, safety fences, containers/racks, electrical cable trays, pipes (optional), control panels, safety, and operator paths.
• Prepare System Layout BOMs and installation sheets; develop layouts with safety fences, controllers, utility drops, and cable trays.
• Exposure to Plant Simulation / Siemens Line Designer (preferred); Teamcenter (TcAE) exposure preferred; Microsoft Access / Excel workbooks.
• Onsite / practical manufacturing experience is preferred.
• BIW product / process structure development; must be able to suggest process changes.

Desired Knowledge

• 3D model of a plant including:
  • Tool/Equipment

  • Containers/Racks
  • Electrical cable tray, pipes (optional)
  • Control panel
  • Safety
  • Operators path
• System layout BOM preparation
• Develop layouts with installation sheets / safety fence / controller / utility drops / cable tray, etc.
• Exposure on process documents as per GM / other OEM requirements preferred
• BIW product / process structure development; ability to suggest process changes
• Onsite / practical manufacturing experience preferred
