About the Role
We are looking for a highly networked and execution-focused Fabric Executive who has a strong understanding of the Indian textile ecosystem. The ideal candidate should possess an extensive network of fabric mills, traders, wholesalers, processors, and suppliers across major textile hubs.
This role demands speed, agility, and a hands-on approach to sourcing the right fabrics while meeting quality, cost, and timeline expectations.
Role & responsibilities
- Source woven, knitted, and specialty fabrics from a wide network of mills, manufacturers, traders, and distributors.
- Continuously identify and onboard new fabric suppliers to strengthen the sourcing ecosystem.
- Travel extensively across textile hubs (Surat, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Erode, Tiruppur, Ludhiana, Jaipur, Delhi, etc.) to discover new developments and maintain supplier relationships.
- Build strong relationships with fabric vendors, processors, dyeing units, printing houses, and finishing facilities.
- Procure fabrics that meet design, quality, commercial, and delivery requirements.
- Negotiate pricing, minimum order quantities (MOQs), payment terms, and lead times to achieve the best commercial outcomes.
- Ensure timely development and procurement of fabric samples for design and merchandising teams.
- Coordinate with suppliers for lab dips, strike-offs, swatches, testing, and approvals.
- Monitor production timelines and proactively resolve supply chain bottlenecks.
- Stay updated on market trends, fabric innovations, seasonal developments, pricing fluctuations, and availability.
- Maintain accurate records of supplier databases, quotations, developments, and purchase history.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3-8 years of experience in fabric sourcing, textile procurement, or fabric merchandising.
- Strong existing network of fabric manufacturers, mills, traders, converters, and textile processors across India.
- Excellent understanding of woven fabrics, knits, denim, prints, dyeing, washing, finishing, and fabric construction.
- Strong negotiation and commercial acumen.
- Ability to identify fabrics quickly based on design requirements and cost targets.
- Comfortable with extensive domestic travel and supplier visits.
- Highly organized, responsive, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/procurement systems is preferred.
