Godrej Motor Solutions, near Shirwal by Pune, manufactures energy-efficient motors for home appliances and industrial applications. We seek a Diploma-qualified Tooling Designer with 3 years' experience to design and optimize tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges using SolidWorks and 2D CAD for motor manufacturing processes.

You will collaborate with Production, Quality and R&D to develop winding tooling for Hermetic and BLDC motors, apply GD&T, and maintain tooling documentation while supporting NPD

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 3 years of experience in tooling or motor manufacturing is preferred.
• Knowledge of GD&T is beneficial for ensuring dimensional accuracy.

Responsabilités

• Design and develop tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges using SolidWorks and 2D CAD for motor manufacturing process development or optimization.
• Independently develop winding tooling drawings for Hermetic and BLDC motors.
• Apply GD&T principles to ensure dimensional accuracy and manufacturability.
• Maintain detailed documentation of tooling designs, revisions, and process changes.
• Support NPD and process engineering by developing tooling required for prototypes and process optimization.

Lawkim Motors was acquired by Godrej in 1977. Since then, the business has pioneered the manufacturing of hermetic compressor motors in India in collaboration with Emerson Electric, USA. Godrej Motors’ Solution manufacturing plant in Shirwal near Pune, India, has been recognized for high productivity and strict safety standards. The manufacturing capabilities have expanded to over 4 million motors a year, including hermetic motors, industrial and commercial motors, and lamination and motor components.

Key Responsibilities

• Tool Designing- Designing and developing tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges using SolidWorks and 2D CAD software for motor manufacturing process development or optimization- Independently working on drawings of Winding tooling for Motors - both Hermetic and BLDC (Brushless Direct Current)- Applying GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles to ensure dimensional accuracy and manufacturability.- Maintaining detailed documentation of tooling designs, revisions, and process changes
• Cost Optimization -Tool cost Optimization by way of Material or Manufacturing method optimization- Evaluating tooling feasibility, cost, and performance for new product introductions - Knowledge about various manufacturing processes like wire cutting, CNC (Computer Numerical Control), VMC (Vertical Machining Center), Grinding etc. and various coatings- Implementing PMO (Project Management Office) projects.
• NPD (New Product Development) Support-Assistance in reducing NPD time by developing tools required for prototype development- Supporting Process Engineering team for Tool development required for development and optimization of processes for Motor Manufacturing. - Collaborating with Production, Quality and R&D teams to optimize tooling and process flow. - Supporting installation, testing, and validation of new tools and equipment. - Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and industry standards
