The role requires cross-functional collaboration with ME, Eengineering, Production, SQA, and SCM to resolve internal and external complaints and ensure robust quality systems for PMSM/BLDC motors.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics/Automotive Engineering.
• 3–7 years in electric motor quality, PMSM/BLDC preferred.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Lead Auditor (ISO 9001/IATF 16949) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Motor Quality Assurance across motor development and production lifecycle.
• Monitor in-process quality, supplier quality, and field returns.
• Lead RCA and implement CAPA; track closure.
• Validate motors against design and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct LPA and vehicle audits; ensure adherence to SOPs.
• Prepare quality reports and dashboards for reviews.
• Support PPAP/APQP documentation and sign-offs.
• Drive process capability improvements at supplier and plant level.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Engineer /Sr Engineer - Motor Quality (MQA) specializing in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs) to oversee and drive quality assurance activities throughout the motor development and production lifecycle. The role includes monitoring in-process quality, supplier quality, field returns, and driving corrective and preventive actions to ensure product reliability, compliance, and performance. The role focuses on defect prevention, customer satisfaction, and continuous quality improvement.The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with ME, Eengineering, Production, SQA, SCM etc., and to drive action to resolve internal and external complaints.

You Will

• Motor Quality Assurance
• Ensure quality of stator, rotor, shaft, magnets, windings, sensors, connectors
• Monitor incoming inspection & testing (IR, resistance, inductance, back EMF, runout)
• Drive process capability (Cp/Cpk) improvements at supplier & plant level
• Defect Analysis & Problem Solving
• Analyze vehicle defects using tools like Why-Why Analysis, Fishbone, 8D, 5-Why
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA)
• Track closure effectiveness of issues
• Perform / review:
• Testing & Validation
• Validate motors against design & regulatory requirements
• Process & Product Audits
• Conduct Layered Process Audits (LPA) and vehicle audits
• Ensure adherence to control plans and SOPs
• Identify gaps and initiate corrective actions
• New Product Development (NPD) Support
• Participate in vehicle builds, trials, and validation activities
• Ensure quality readiness during new model launches
• Support PPAP, APQP documentation and sign-offs
• Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain quality reports: SPR, DPHV, defects trend, audit reports
• Prepare dashboards and present in quality review meetings
• Ensure compliance to ISO / IATF quality systems

• No-load & load performance tests
• Efficiency & torque-speed characteristics
• Thermal rise / endurance testing
• Noise & vibration (NVH) evaluation

What You Bring

• Education: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Mechanical / Mechatronics / Automotive Engineering.
• Experience: 3-7 years in electric motor quality, preferably in PMSM or BLDC motor domain.
• Certifications: Six Sigma Green Belt (preferred), Lead Auditor (ISO 9001/IATF 16949).

Strong Understanding Of

• BLDC / PMSM motor construction & working
• Winding, insulation systems, magnet materials

Hands-on Experience In

• Motor testing (back EMF, IR, surge, hipot)
• NVH & thermal analysis

Knowledge Of

• Quality tools: 8D, FMEA, SPC, MSA
• Root cause analysis techniques

Familiar With

• CAN tools / motor controllers (added advantage).

Good analytical and cross-functional coordination skills
