Job summary

DEIC-L&T Precision Engineering & Systems IC in Coimbatore is seeking a senior hardware design engineer with 8–10 years in automotive/industrial/embedded systems to develop hardware architectures and schematics.

The role requires expertise in analog/digital/mixed-signal, power electronics, CAN/LIN/Ethernet, and hands-on EDA tools (Altium, Cadence OrCAD, Mentor). You will drive DFM/DFT, BOM optimization, and NPI support, with a focus on reliability and compliance to IATF 16949 etc.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hardware design and product development for automotive/industrial/embedded systems.
• Strong knowledge of analog, digital, mixed-signal, power electronics, and microcontroller-based circuit design.
• Experience in converting customer requirements into hardware architecture and schematics.
• Hands-on experience in schematic capture using Altium Designer, Cadence OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, or equivalent EDA tools.
• Expertise in component selection, derating analysis, tolerance analysis, and BOM optimization.
• Experience in designing interfaces such as CAN, LIN, RS232, RS485, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, UART, and other communication protocols.
• Strong understanding of power supply design including AC-DC, DC-DC converters, LDOs, battery management, and protection circuits.
• Experience in PCB stack-up definition, layout reviews, signal integrity, power integrity, EMC/EMI considerations, and thermal management.
• Ability to perform design calculations, simulations, and validations using tools such as SPICE, LTspice, MATLAB, or equivalent.
• Experience in prototype bring-up, debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power analyzers, and multimeters.
• Knowledge of DFM, DFA, DFT, and DFR.
• Experience in supporting NPI, pilot builds, engineering validation, and production ramp-up.
• Familiarity with automotive standards such as IATF 16949, ISO 26262, CISPR, IEC, UL, CE, and customer-specific requirements.
