Job summary

TRATON group seeks a Senior Battery Development Specialist in Pune (hybrid) to lead development, validation and enhancement of hardware-in-the-loop testing for battery systems in commercial vehicles, aligned with global demand and sustainability goals.

You will collaborate with battery domain experts, translate complex challenges into data science solutions, build predictive models, and deploy end-to-end analytics tools while staying current with ML advances.

Qualifications

• BTech/MTech in Computer Engineering, Data Science, Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics.
• Strong ML, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics capabilities.
• Proficient in Python and data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience in data analytics, data visualization and model building.
• Familiarity with MLOps, model deployment and production monitoring.
• Knowledge of battery fundamentals is a plus.
• Good knowledge of AWS, Snowflake, DBT, Docker, GitLab and SQL tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, validation and enhancement of hardware-in-loop testing for battery systems in commercial vehicles.
• Define data solutions in the Battery & Charging area for engineering.
• Collaborate with battery domain experts to gather and refine requirements.
• Translate battery challenges into data science and ML solutions.
• Analyze large volumes of battery test, field and operational data for actionable insights.
• Develop, validate and deploy predictive models for battery performance and health.
• Design end-to-end analytical apps, dashboards and decision-support tools.
• Develop data pipelines for collection, processing, storage and analysis of battery data.
• Present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ensure data quality, model robustness and scalability.
• Stay updated with advances in battery tech, ML, AI and analytics.

As part of your role, you will be responsible for Lead development, validation and enhancement of hardware in loop testing activities for commercial vehicles (for brake, steering & Air functions for Existing and future global demand).

To ensure that you will-

• Lead to define the Data solutions in the Battery & Charging area for engineering.
• Collaborate with battery domain experts, engineers, and stakeholders to gather, understand, and refine business and technical requirements.
• Translate complex battery-related challenges into data science and machine learning solutions.
• Analyze large volumes of battery test, field, and operational data to extract actionable insights.
• Develop, validate, and deploy predictive models for battery performance, health monitoring, degradation analysis, fault detection, and lifetime estimation.
• Design and build end-to-end analytical applications, dashboards, and decision-support tools that address engineering needs.
• Develop data pipelines for collection, processing, storage, and analysis of battery data.
• Present findings, recommendations, and technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ensure data quality, model robustness, and scalability of solutions.
• Stay updated with advancements in battery technology, machine learning, AI, and data analytics methodologies.
• B. Tech / M. Tech in Computer engineering / Data Science / Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics or Similar.
• Strong understanding of machine learning, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics.
• Proficiency in Python and data science libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• Experience in Data Analytics, Data Visualization and Model building.
• Familiarity with MLOps, model deployment, and production monitoring.
• Knowledge of battery fundamentals is good to have.
• Good knowhow of AWS, Snowflake, DBT, Docker, Gitlab & SQL tools.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with domain experts and cross-functional teams.

More Information

• Good knowhow of programming languages like Python (Library knowledge PyBamm), MATLAB etc.
• Advance Microsoft excel skills is must.
• Knowledge of battery fundamentals (Li-ion chemistry, degradation mechanisms, SOC/SOH estimation) is good to have.
