Job summary

Vanguard India is building a new backend services team in Hyderabad to deliver cloud-native applications and APIs. You will own end-to-end backend development with Java, Spring Boot, and AWS services, while aligning with security and observability practices.

The role requires 5+ years in application development, strong Java/ Spring Boot skills, and experience with OAuth/Okta/JWT. Agile delivery and mentoring duties are part of the responsibilities, with a hybrid working model in place.

Role Summary

We are looking for Application Engineers to join the team, which builds solutions across personal, digital, and institutional advisory platforms. This is a core development role within a new team, focused on building backend services, APIs, and cloud-based applications from the ground up.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in Java, Python, Spring Boot, AWS services, API security, and backend development. Exposure to test automation, observability tools, and Agile ways of working will be an added advantage. This role offers strong end-to-end ownership, hands‑on engineering exposure, and the opportunity to work on modern cloud and AI‑enabled technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy cloud-native applications and APIs.
• Build secure, scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop and maintain AWS-based microservices and serverless solutions.
• Implement API authentication and authorization using OAuth, Okta, and JWT.
• Monitor application performance using Splunk, Honeycomb, and CloudWatch.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Support production applications and drive service reliability.
• Willingness to mentor mid and junior level developers on the team
• Strong communication Skills
• Good stakeholder management skills to influence technical decisions.
• Hands‑on experience with Agile, Confluence, JIRA, and monitoring and refining dashboards

Qualifications And Skills

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in application development, system analysis, or database management.
• Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Computer Science or IT, or Bachelor’s in Computer Applications (BCA).
• Proficiency in Java, Spring boot,Python Basics
• Excellence in AWS - Lambda, step functions, Dynamo DB, S3, ECS .
• Working knowledge of Splunk, Honeycomb, Cloud watch
• Good understanding in API – security - OAUTH/OKTA jwts
• Proficiency in TDD / BDD- Test Automation Skills (Cucumber).
• Experience in Version: Java 17; Python 3.9+; Spring Boot 3.0 +
