Job summary

Vanguard India in Hyderabad is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to design, develop, and optimize applications and databases. You will translate technical specs into robust code and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data integration and secure development practices.

The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of Java, Angular/Rest, and AWS experience, and will contribute to performance tuning, API integrations, and scalable backend solutions within a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in application development, system analysis, or database management.
• B.E./B.Tech in CS/IT or BCA; relevant degree required.
• Experience with database design, SQL, and data optimization for high-performance apps.
• Familiarity with API development, integration, and third-party software integration.
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Angular/React, AWS, SQL, CI/CD, and TDD/BDD.

• Support in pager duty as required.

Role Summary

This role provides intermediate-level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases and supports backend performance optimization, data integration, documentation, and secure development practices. An ideal candidate would have 5-8 years of experience in Java, Angular/Rest, and AWS.

Responsibilities

• Provides intermediate level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases. Integrates third party products.
• Support in pager duty is required
• Translates technical specifications into code for moderately complex new or enhancement projects for internal clients. Writes programs, develops code, tests artifacts, and produces reports. Employs software development techniques to ensure tests are implemented in a way that support automation.
• Elevates code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule. Provides follow up production support. Submits change control requests and documents.
• Follows software development methodology. Follows development architecture standards.
• Participates in design, code, and test inspections throughout the life cycle to identify issues. Participates in systems analysis activities.
• Understands client business functions and technology needs. Understands Vanguard's tools, technologies, and applications/databases, including those that interface with business area and systems.
• Learns and complies with Information Technology and Information Security policies and procedures.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
• Contribute to optimizing system performance through efficient database design and code enhancements to support scalability.
• Support the integration and maintenance of data pipelines between APIs and backend systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Maintain and update software documentation for backend components, highlighting logic, processes, and architecture.
• Apply intermediate knowledge of backend system security and data protection best practices during development.

Qualifications And Skills

• Minimum 3 years of experience in application development, system analysis, or database management.
• Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Computer Science or IT, or Bachelor’s in Computer Applications (BCA).
• Experience with database design, SQL, and data optimization techniques for high-performance applications.
• Familiarity with API development, integration, and third-party software integration.
• Must have skills: Java, Spring Boot, Angular/React, AWS, SQL queries, CI/CD, TDD/BDD,
• Nice to have – Python, experience with legacy migration to cloud
• Proficiency in Agile, Confluence, JIRA.
• Aptitude for continuous process improvement for process flows/workflows.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers and business stakeholders..
• Expert in debugging in AWS and legacy systems using modern tools.
• Proficiency in Agile Monitoring/refining dashboards, SLOs, and solving known problems by following playbooks.
