Senior JAMF Engineer
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior JAMF Engineer to lead the strategy, stability, and modernization of the macOS environment supporting approximately 1,700 devices globally, including 100 VIP/Diamond users. This role owns the JAMF platform end‑to‑end, including infrastructure, policy architecture, OS lifecycle management, third‑party application patching, and compliance posture. The Senior Mac Platform Engineer will lead the migration from on‑prem JAMF to JAMF Cloud, rationalize and modernize existing policies, and drive automation improvements across the Mac ecosystem. The role supervises 1–2 JAMF engineers and is accountable for macOS platform KPIs, operational performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting to Endpoint Management leadership, this position combines deep technical expertise with platform ownership and team oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the JAMF platform as the single source of truth for macOS device management.
- Maintain and optimize JAMF infrastructure, policies, configurations, and integrations (including JAMF Connect with local account model).
- Establish governance standards for policy design, naming conventions, scoping, and lifecycle management.
- Monitor and improve macOS client health and compliance posture.
- Lead the technical execution of the migration from on‑prem JAMF to JAMF Cloud.
- Rationalize and streamline existing policies during migration.
- Ensure minimal disruption to end users, including VIP/Diamond population.
- Validate integrations, configurations, and security controls post‑migration.
- Own macOS major version upgrade strategy and rollout.
- Manage third‑party application patching (Adobe, Chrome, Zoom, etc.).
- Partner with Endpoint Security to implement and maintain security baselines and compliance standards.
- Improve patch and upgrade adoption rates across the environment.
- Develop automation using scripting (Bash, Python, or similar) and JAMF APIs.
- Reduce manual remediation through proactive and self‑healing workflows.
- Improve reporting visibility and operational metrics.
- Identify opportunities to integrate AI‑driven or telemetry‑based remediation where appropriate.
- Supervise 1–2 JAMF engineers, providing technical direction and oversight.
- Lead technical prioritization and execution planning for Mac engineering initiatives.
- Develop training materials and provide structured enablement for Field Services and L1.5/L2 support teams.
- Improve support documentation and escalation pathways.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience managing macOS in enterprise environments.
- Deep expertise in JAMF Pro administration and architecture.
- Experience with JAMF Connect and modern, non‑AD‑bound macOS environments.
- Proven experience leading platform migrations (cloud preferred).
- Strong scripting experience (Bash, Python, or similar).
- Experience managing macOS OS lifecycle and third‑party application patching.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise technical staff and drive KPI accountability.
- Strong documentation and cross‑team collaboration skills.
