Job summary

Lapstier Solutions is seeking an experienced SPM Design Engineer to design special purpose machines and automation systems. You will create 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and BOMs from concept to production, ensuring manufacturability and cost efficiency.

The role requires hands-on mechanical design expertise with CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD) and the ability to work with cross-functional teams on-site. Immediate joiners preferred; freshers are not eligible.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of hands-on mechanical design experience in SPMs or automation.
• Proficient in CAD modelling and manufacturing drawings.
• Understanding of machine design principles and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Special Purpose Machines and automation equipment.
• Prepare 3D models, detailed drawings, and BOMs.
• Select components and perform basic engineering calculations.
• Develop machine layouts, fixtures, and material handling systems.
• Ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-efficient.
• Coordinate with electrical and production teams to resolve issues.
• Review designs and incorporate feedback from customers and teams.
• Support prototype development, testing, and modifications.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced SPM Design Engineer with strong hands-on experience in mechanical design, machine development, and 3D CAD modelling. The candidate should be capable of designing special purpose machines, automation systems, and mechanical assemblies from concept development through detailed engineering and manufacturing drawings.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop Special Purpose Machines (SPMs), automation equipment, and mechanical assemblies.
• Prepare 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and BOMs.
• Perform component selection and basic engineering calculations for shafts, bearings, gears, motors, actuators, and linear motion systems.
• Develop machine layouts, mechanisms, fixtures, jigs, and material-handling systems.
• Ensure designs are practical for manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and cost optimisation.
• Coordinate with electrical, automation, production, and manufacturing teams to resolve design issues.
• Review designs and incorporate feedback from customers and internal teams.
• Support prototype development, assembly, testing, and design modifications.

Required Skills

• 35 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, preferably in SPMs and industrial automation.
• Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, and AutoCAD.
• Good understanding of machine design principles, GD&T, engineering drawings, tolerances, and fits.
• Experience with sheet metal, fabricated structures, machined components, and mechanical assemblies.
• Knowledge of standard mechanical components, bearings, gears, motors, actuators, and linear motion systems.
• Ability to interpret customer requirements and convert them into practical mechanical designs.
• Good communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience working with manufacturing drawings, BOM preparation, and design documentation.
• Exposure to industrial automation, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, and machine safety.
