Job summary

Berht Robotics is seeking a Design Engineer with 2–4 years of experience in machine design, SPM and industrial automation, preferably from robotics and automation industries, for our Bengaluru site.

You will design and develop Special Purpose Machines and robotic automation systems, create SolidWorks models and drawings, perform engineering calculations, and coordinate with manufacturing, electrical and controls teams on shop-floor projects.

Qualifications

• Design and develop Special Purpose Machines (SPM), robotic automation systems, fixtures, mechanisms, and machine assemblies.
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, manufacturing drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks.
• Perform engineering calculations for shafts, bearings, gears, chains, belts, screws, cylinders, structures, motors, and other machine elements.
• Apply GD&T, tolerances, fits, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing considerations while preparing engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

Job description

Key Responsibilities

1. Design and develop Special Purpose Machines (SPM), robotic automation systems, fixtures, mechanisms, and machine assemblies.
2. Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, manufacturing drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks.
3. Perform engineering calculations for shafts, bearings, gears, chains, belts, screws, cylinders, structures, motors, and other machine elements.
4. Perform load, torque, power, speed, force, stress, and factor-of-safety calculations for mechanical components.
5. Select appropriate mechanical components, actuators, linear guides, bearings, motors, gearboxes, pneumatic components, and standard hardware.
6. Develop concept designs and detailed mechanical solutions based on customer/project requirements.
7. Apply GD&T, tolerances, fits, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing considerations while preparing engineering drawings.
8. Coordinate with manufacturing, assembly, electrical, controls, robotics, procurement, and project teams during machine development.
9. Support machine assembly, commissioning, troubleshooting, and design modifications at the shop floor/customer site when required.
10. Review designs for safety, manufacturability, accessibility, serviceability, cost, and reliability.

Candidate Profile

• B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Mechatronics / Robotics & Automation.
• 2 to 4 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with SolidWorks.
• Good understanding of engineering calculations and mechanical component selection.
• Candidates from SPM, machine building, robotics, industrial automation, or special-purpose equipment industries preferred.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Willingness to work closely with manufacturing and assembly teams.

Key Requirement

Strong mechanical fundamentals + good engineering calculations + SolidWorks + practical machine design experience are essential for this position.
