Job summary

Bajaj Auto is seeking a Design Engineer for Steering Systems to design and evaluate steering mechanisms for 4-wheelers. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure performance, durability and cost targets, and contribute to layout and interface with CAE, manufacturing and service teams.

The role requires hands-on design experience in steering components, GD&T, DFMEA, and familiarity with UG/NX; 4–10 years in automotive design; located in India.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree with strong emphasis on design of automobile steering systems.
• 4–10 years of hands-on design experience in automotive steering, components and assemblies.
• Knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA and design for field service.

Responsibilities

• Design and evaluate steering system and its aggregates for 4-wheelers.
• Work out steering layout and hard points with suspension points.
• Interface with design, CAE, manufacturing, validation and service teams.

Job Role & Responsibilities

Role:

To design and evaluate Steering System, Steering mechanism and its aggregates like steering linkages, rack and pinion, tie tod, steering column, bushes, ball joint for 4 wheelers. Understanding of vehicle architecture, layout. (4Wh, 3Wh)

• Work out steering system hard points considering suspension hard points and optimise steering layout.
• Work out and should have knowhow of different steering systems like rack and pinion, centre-take off, bell crank.
• Workout designs like collapsible steering column, power steering system depending on project need.
• Work out and detailing of 3Wh steering column and fork design.
• Consider performance and durability aspects early in design. Review, evaluate, optimise design.
• Understand, apply, built in design for field service aspects and provide design support for field service.
• Consider cost elements and aspects in design parameters, specifications.
• Interfacing with design, validation, CAE, manufacturing, development and service teams.
• Selection of material.
