Job summary

Movate Technologies seeks an experienced Network & Firewall Security Operations professional to design, deploy, and manage carrier IPsec VPN tunnels and network security. You will work across Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Aruba platforms, handling incident analysis and documentation in a 24/7 shift environment.

You will configure gear, upgrade firmware, harden security, and contribute to monitoring and runbooks while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable enterprise

Qualifications

• 8+ years hands-on experience in network routing, switching, and firewall infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of OSI and TCP/IP models, ICMP, TCP, UDP, ping, traceroute.
• Experience installing, configuring, and administering Cisco routers/switches, Cisco ASA, Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto, and Fortinet firewalls.
• Expertise in DS3, T1, BGP, OSPF, ATM, FrameRelay, IPsec, NAT, MPLS.
• Proficiency in 802.1q, STP, RSTP, MSTP, VLAN, MPLS, VRF, VSS.
• Firewall management with Palo Alto (DNS Security, PANDB, Threat Prevention, GlobalProtect, Panorama).
• IPsec site-to-site and remote VPN configuration and troubleshooting.
• Strong familiarity with SD-WAN solutions (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Configure, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot infrastructure and customer carrier IPsec VPN tunnels.
• Investigate and diagnose incidents, resolve or escalate based on defined metrics and SLAs.
• Log and update incident investigations and resolutions.
• Provide hands-on support for Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, Fortinet, and Aruba networks.
• Participate in firmware/IOS upgrades, hardware refreshes, security hardening, and monitoring improvements.
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation (standards, processes, run books).
• Utilize monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Network Performance Monitor, Sniffer, MRTG, and Cisco Works.
• Perform intermediate TCP/IP packet analysis using Wireshark or TCP dump.
• Work in a 24/7 shift environment.
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Overview: The Network Engineer will be responsible for configuring, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting network infrastructure and customer carrier IPsec VPN tunnels. The role requires strong expertise in routing, switching, firewall technologies, and security operations, with handson experience across multiple vendor platforms.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of handson experience in supporting and maintaining network routing, switching, and firewall infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of OSI and TCP/IP models, ICMP, TCP, UDP, ping, and traceroute.
• Experience in installing, configuring, and administering Cisco routers/switches, Cisco ASA, Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto, and Fortinet firewalls.
• Expertise in protocols and technologies: DS3, T1, BGP, OSPF, ATM, FrameRelay, IPsec, NAT, MPLS.
• Proficiency in routing and switching technologies: 802.1q, STP, RSTP, MSTP, VLAN, MPLS, VRF, VSS.
• Firewall management experience, preferably with Palo Alto (DNS Security, PANDB URL Filtering, Threat Prevention, Global Protect, Panorama, Wildfire).
• Knowledge of data center switches (Cisco 9500, 9400, 9300, 9200, 8300 series).
• Strong knowledge of IPsec sitetosite and remote VPN configuration and troubleshooting.
• Ability to troubleshoot wireless infrastructure issues.
• Familiarity with SDWAN solutions (preferred).
