Role Summary
We are seeking a Solution Architect – Payments to lead the design and architecture of payment processing and corporate banking technology solutions across global markets. The role requires deep domain expertise in payments and corporate banking along with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and resilient technology solutions.
The Solution Architect will work closely with business, product, and technology stakeholders to define solution approaches, architecture blueprints, and integration patterns across the payment ecosystem, including payment initiation, screening, routing, clearing, and settlement processes.
The role also involves early engagement with business teams to shape solution concepts, provide architecture guidance, and support technology teams during solution development and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Solution Architecture & Design
- Define and govern the end-to-end architecture for payments and corporate banking solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise technology standards.
- Translate business requirements into high-level solution designs and architecture blueprints.
- Design scalable and resilient solutions supporting real-time and cross-border payment processing.
- Evaluate the impact of change across existing systems, integrations, and operational processes.
- Define integration approaches across payment processing platforms and related banking systems.
- Produce architecture documentation and design artefacts to guide delivery teams.
2. Stakeholder Engagement & Delivery Support
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product teams, and technology delivery teams to define optimal solution approaches.
- Act as a key liaison between business units, architecture teams, and engineering teams to ensure alignment on solution design.
- Support delivery teams throughout the solution lifecycle from design through implementation and testing.
- Conduct architecture walkthroughs and design reviews with stakeholders and governance forums.
- Provide guidance to development teams and support teams on solution implementation.
3. Architecture Governance
- Ensure solution designs align with enterprise architecture principles, technology standards, and security requirements.
- Review project designs to ensure compliance with established architecture frameworks and best practices.
- Define and document non-functional requirements including scalability, resilience, and performance.
- Support solution assessments and technology evaluations for new initiatives and vendor integrations.
4. Payments & Corporate Banking Domain Expertise
- Provide strong domain expertise across global payment ecosystems and transaction processing.
- Demonstrate understanding of payment schemes and cross-border payment flows.
- Design solutions supporting corporate banking capabilities such as payments processing, liquidity management, trade finance, loans, and virtual account structures.
- Understand regulatory and operational considerations relevant to payment processing platforms.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Certifications such as TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Certified Payments Professional (CPP) preferred.
Skills Required
- 10+ years of experience of which at least the last 5+ years is focused on designing enterprise-scale payment processing solutions.
- Strong understanding of payments architecture and transaction processing systems.
- Strong hands‑on background in Java (11+), Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, and event‑driven architectures.
- Expertise in payment system integration with SWIFT, SEPA, RTP, FedNow, and other real‑time clearing systems.
- Familiarity with integration patterns, distributed systems, and enterprise architecture frameworks.
- Proven experience architecting cloud‑native, API‑first, and containerized solutions (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Knowledge of streaming platforms (Kafka), caching systems (Redis), and distributed databases.
- Strong focus on security architecture, including OAuth2/JWT, encryption, key management, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience working in Agile environments, influencing architecture decisions across distributed delivery teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to engage both technical and business audiences.
