Job summary

Bajaj Electricals Ltd. is seeking an experienced Solar Design Engineer to lead end-to-end design, engineering, and optimization of utility-scale ground-mounted and C&I rooftop PV projects from concept to commissioning.

The role requires 8–10 years in Solar PV design, strong experience with PVSyst, AutoCAD, SketchUp, MS Project, and knowledge of 11kV/22kV/33kV evacuation systems, with IEC/IS/CEA compliance.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
• M.Tech in Power Systems/Renewable Energy preferred.
• 8–10 years of experience in Solar PV Design & Engineering.
• Proven experience in utility-scale and C&I rooftop projects.

Responsibilities

• Design utility-scale ground-mounted and C&I rooftop solar PV systems from concept to commissioning.
• Prepare SLDs, plant layouts, stringing layouts, cable schedules, equipment sizing calculations, and detailed drawings.
• Perform DC system design, string sizing, inverter loading, cable sizing, voltage drop calculations, and energy yield optimization.
• Develop AC system designs including ACDBs, LT systems, HT evacuation systems, transformers, switchgear, and metering arrangements.
• Prepare earthing, lightning protection, SCADA, communication, and monitoring system designs.
• Review and optimize plant configurations for technical suitability and cost competitiveness.
• Create detailed 2D/3D system layouts and SLDs using AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, SketchUp.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

Responsible for end-to-end design, engineering, optimization, and technical due diligence of utility-scale ground-mounted and C&I rooftop solar PV projects. The role will lead detailed engineering activities from concept to commissioning, ensuring technically optimized, bankable, compliant, and cost-effective solar power plant designs.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Engineering:

• Design utility-scale ground-mounted and C&I rooftop solar PV systems from concept to commissioning.
• Prepare SLDs, plant layouts, stringing layouts, cable schedules, equipment sizing calculations, and detailed engineering drawings.
• Perform DC system design, string sizing, inverter loading, cable sizing, voltage drop calculations, and energy yield optimization.
• Develop AC system designs including ACDBs, LT systems, auxiliary power systems, HT evacuation systems, transformers, switchgear, and metering arrangements.
• Prepare earthing, lightning protection, SCADA, communication, and monitoring system designs.
• Review and optimize plant configurations for technical suitability and cost competitiveness.
• Create detailed 2D/3D system layouts and single-line diagrams (SLDs) using specialized software (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, SketchUp).

Rooftop Solar Engineering:

• Conduct rooftop feasibility assessments including structural loading review, shadow analysis, module layout optimization, and inverter selection.
• Design net-metering, open-access, and captive rooftop solar projects.
• Coordinate with structural and project teams for rooftop implementation.

Utility-Scale Solar Engineering:

• Prepare detailed engineering packages for MW-scale solar projects.
• Design pooling systems, AC collection networks, HT evacuation systems, and interconnection schemes.
• Support grid connectivity studies and utility approvals.
• Experience with 11kV/22kV/33kV evacuation systems and associated protection requirements.

Tendering & Technical Support:

• Prepare and review BOQs, BOMs, technical specifications, datasheets, and tender documents.
• Provide technical support to Business Development, Tendering, Procurement, and Project Execution teams.
• Participate in technical discussions with clients, consultants, DISCOMs, and EPC partners.

Project Support

• Coordinate with site teams during execution and commissioning.
• Resolve design and engineering issues during project implementation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable IEC, IS, CEA, and utility standards.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

B.E./B.Tech (Electrical Engineering)

M.Tech (Power Systems/Renewable Energy) preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE

• 8-10 years of experience in Solar PV Design & Engineering.
• Proven experience in both utility-scale ground-mounted solar and C&I rooftop solar projects.
• Experience in designing and delivering projects from concept through commissioning.
• Strong exposure to detailed engineering, design optimization, BOQ preparation, and project execution support.
• Experience handling MW-scale solar EPC projects with HT evacuation systems.
