Job summary

Webnyay Private Limited is seeking a QA Engineer to ensure quality, reliability, security, and performance of enterprise applications. You will work with developers, product teams, and UI/UX designers to validate functionality and deliver high-quality software.

The ideal candidate has experience in manual testing, API testing, database validation, test case design, and automation testing, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in software quality assurance and testing.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and the SDLC/STLC.
• Hands-on experience with manual testing, functional testing, regression testing, and integration testing.
• Experience with API testing using Postman or similar tools.
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
• Understanding of test case design, defect lifecycle, and bug-tracking tools such as Jira.
• Experience with test management and documentation.
• Good analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and specs to prepare test scenarios and test cases.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, sanity, and end-to-end testing.
• Identify, document, track, and verify defects.
• Validate UI workflows, forms, reports, and business rules.
• Ensure test coverage across positive, negative, boundary, and exception scenarios.
• Test REST APIs and validate requests, responses, and status codes.
• Perform database testing and data validation using SQL/PostgreSQL.
• Develop and maintain automated tests with Selenium/Playwright/Cypress where applicable.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and improve test coverage.

The candidate will work closely with developers, technical leads, product teams, and UI/UX designers to validate application functionality and deliver high-quality software.

The ideal candidate should have experience in manual testing, API testing, database validation, test case design, and automation testing, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

Manual and Functional Testing

• Analyze business requirements and technical specifications to prepare test scenarios and test cases.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, sanity, and end-to-end testing.
• Identify, document, track, and verify software defects.
• Validate application workflows, user interfaces, forms, reports, and business rules.
• Ensure test coverage across positive, negative, boundary, and exception scenarios.

API and Database Testing

• Test REST APIs using Postman or similar tools.
• Validate API requests, responses, status codes, authentication, authorization, and error handling.
• Perform database testing and data validation using SQL and PostgreSQL.
• Verify data consistency across application modules and integrations.
• Test API integrations with third-party and enterprise systems.

Automation Testing

• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar tools.
• Automate repetitive functional and regression test cases.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines where applicable.
• Identify opportunities to improve test coverage and reduce manual testing effort.

Performance, Security and Quality

• Support performance and load testing using tools such as JMeter or similar platforms.
• Validate role-based access control, authentication, authorization, and session management.
• Identify potential application security issues and coordinate with development teams for resolution.
• Participate in defect triage, root-cause analysis, and release-readiness reviews.
• Prepare test reports, maintain test documentation, and communicate quality risks to stakeholders.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with developers, business analysts, product teams, and technical leads.
• Participate in sprint planning, requirement reviews, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Support UAT, production validation, and release testing.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 28 years of experience in software quality assurance and testing.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and the SDLC/STLC.
• Hands-on experience with manual testing, functional testing, regression testing, and integration testing.
• Experience with API testing using Postman or similar tools.
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of test case design, defect lifecycle, and bug-tracking tools such as Jira.
• Experience with test management and documentation.
• Good analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Good to Have

• Experience with Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or other automation frameworks.
• Knowledge of Python, Java, or JavaScript for test automation.
• Experience with JMeter or other performance testing tools.
• Familiarity with Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of OWASP Top 10 and application security testing.
• Experience testing enterprise applications, REST APIs, and complex business workflows.
• Exposure to BFSI, government, legal technology, or regulated enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
