Philips is seeking a detail-oriented Embedded Software Test Engineer to design, implement, and execute comprehensive test plans for medical device software, ensuring safety and quality across the product lifecycle.

You will build test automation frameworks in C# or Python, work in an Agile team, perform risk-based testing, and validate end-to-end workflows including cloud interfaces and device communications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or equivalent.
  • 4 to 7 years of experience in Embedded Software Testing, preferably in Healthcare/Medical Device domain.
  • Experience in a regulated environment (FDA 21 CFR Part 820, IEC 62304, ISO 13485).
  • Exposure to medical device software verification and validation activities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain product-based test automation frameworks for functional, integration, system, and end-to-end testing.
  • Create, review, and maintain test plans, test cases, procedures, and automated scripts based on requirements and design specs.
  • Execute embedded software, system, integration, functional, regression, and verification testing throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with developers, system engineers, and cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to ensure high-quality releases.

Job Title Software Technologist I - Test Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Embedded Software Test Engineer to join our dynamic Test engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and executing test plans to ensure the quality, function, and performance of software products meet the required standards.

Your role: Design, develop, and maintain product-based test automation frameworks to support functional, integration, system, regression, and end-to-end testing activities. Develop, review, document, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, test procedures, and automated test scripts based on software requirements and design specifications. Execute and support embedded software, system, integration, functional, regression, and verification testing activities throughout the product lifecycle. Collaborate effectively with software developers, system engineers, and cross-functional teams in a Scrum/Agile environment to ensure high-quality product releases. Analyse test results, track defects, provide test status reports, and drive continuous quality improvements. Apply risk-based testing methodologies to ensure comprehensive verification and validation of safety-critical software. Validate end-to-end workflows, including software updates, cloud/backend services, communication interfaces, and device interactions. Participate in requirements reviews, design discussions, and testability analysis to improve product quality early in the development cycle. Leverage mocking frameworks and simulation techniques to validate software components and interfaces in embedded environments.

Technical Skills
  • Strong experience in Test Automation, C# or Python scripting, and automation framework development.
  • Hands-on experience with BDD (Behavior-Driven Development) and/or TDD (Test-Driven Development) methodologies.
  • Experience with mocking frameworks and test simulation technologies for embedded systems testing.
  • Knowledge of Automation Architecture and development of enterprise-scale automated test solutions.
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design (OOD) principles and design patterns.
  • Proficiency in HP ALM, Azure DevOps, Jira, or other Test Management and Defect Tracking tools.
  • Experience with test reporting, metrics, traceability, and requirements management.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent.
  • 4 to 7 years of experience in Embedded Software Testing, preferably in the Healthcare/Medical Device domain.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment (FDA 21 CFR Part 820, IEC 62304, ISO 13485, or similar).
  • Exposure to medical device software verification and validation activities.
  • Experience with healthcare applications, connected devices, or embedded medical systems.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), with hands‑on involvement across requirements, design reviews, test planning, execution, defect management, and release activities.
Preferred Skills
  • ISTQB Foundation Level or Advanced Level Certification preferred.
