Role Overview:

We are looking for Associate Software Engineers/Software Engineers with strong computer science fundamentals and early hands‑on experience of how real software gets built, reviewed and shipped. You will build backend services and APIs.

This is a role for engineers who want to learn fast in a small, high‑calibre team. You will work alongside experienced engineering managers and senior engineers, with engineering levels and practices modelled on India s top product companies.

• Own the design and delivery of backend services, APIs and microservices end to end from design and development through deployment, monitoring and iteration.
• Participate in on‑call rotations for the systems you build.
• Design scalable, reliable and secure systems: data models, API contracts, caching strategies, and asynchronous, event‑driven workflows.
• Write design documents, make well‑reasoned technical decisions, and defend them with clear trade‑offs; constructively challenge proposed solutions, including those from senior engineers and leadership.
• Build to a healthcare quality bar, with strong automated testing, security and data‑privacy practices audit trails, role‑based access control and encryption of sensitive data, in line with regulations such as the DPDP Act.
• Review code and help raise engineering standards across the team.
• Mentor and unblock Associate Software Engineers through pairing, design discussions and reviews.
• Instrument services with logging, metrics and alerting, and use them to diagnose issues, troubleshoot production problems, and optimise performance and reliability.
• Use AI coding assistants and agents across the development lifecycle design, coding, testing and debugging while owning every line you ship, whether you or an AI wrote it, and following strict guardrails so patient information is never exposed to unapproved AI tools.
• Help shape the team s AI‑assisted engineering practices shared agent configurations, project context and rules files, guardrails and review standards.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Must have

• 3 4 years of backend development experience, including at least 3 years at internet product companies (e.g., consumer internet, e‑commerce, fintech, marketplaces or classifieds).
• Experience taking at least one product or major feature through the full development lifecycle design, build, launch and operation at scale.
• Strong programming skills in Java or Python, with experience in frameworks such as Spring Boot or FastAPI.
• Proficiency in AI‑assisted development: using coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to plan, implement, test and refactor and knowing when not to trust their output.
• Strong problem solving and data structures and algorithms fundamentals.
• Solid low‑level design skills: object‑oriented design, design patterns, class design and clean API contracts.
• System design ability: explain and defend the architecture of systems you have built, and design new systems from scratch with clear reasoning on scalability, availability and consistency trade‑offs.
• Hands‑on experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB), caching (Redis), and messaging or streaming systems (Kafka or similar).
• Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders, including clinicians.
• High ownership, comfort with ambiguity, and a hustler s energy to build from the ground up without compromising on quality.
• A product mindset curiosity about how hospitals work, and care for the outcome for the user, not just the ticket.
• Depth over frequent switches we value engineers who have stayed long enough in their roles to see their work through.

Good to have

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines and Git‑based workflows.
• Experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS), and comfort working across cloud and on‑premise environments.
• Experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities into production systems.
• Experience building agents or automations for engineering workflows e.g., test generation, code review, migrations or documentation using agent frameworks or tool integrations (such as MCP).
• Experience integrating with third‑party systems payment gateways, ERPs, messaging platforms, or device and equipment interfaces.
• Exposure to healthcare, fintech or other regulated domains, or to interoperability standards such as HL7/FHIR.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
• Exposure to frontend development (React).

Education

B.Tech / B.E. in Computer Science, IT or a related field; a top‑tier institution (IITs, IIITs, NITs, BITS or equivalent) is preferred.
