The Standard is seeking a Software Engineer III with hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, REST API development, Confluent Platform (Apache Kafka), and event-driven architecture to support the bentech integrations strategy. This strategy is intended to elevate The Standard customers' overall digital experiences in enrollment, administration and claims through modern API-first and event-driven integration patterns that bridge The Standard's vast insurance ecosystem and data with customer Human Capital Management Systems, broker digital solutions and data intermediaries. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Product Owners, Product Analysts, Scrum Masters, Front-End Engineers, Software Developers in Test, Data Engineers, DevOps / Site Reliability Engineers, and Architects to build scalable, secure, and reliable enterprise-grade services. The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer who can independently deliver features and enhancements, contribute to technical solution design, translate business requirements into application functionality, and work effectively within an Agile delivery team. As a Software Engineer III, you will develop and maintain scalable and reliable REST APIs, services, and event-driven components that deliver digital capabilities to customers. You will apply engineering best practices such as SOLID principles, OpenAPI-driven design, secure integration patterns, automated testing, and performance-aware development across the software development life cycle. This role should be comfortable working within Azure DevOps, GitHub, containerized environments, and CI/CD-enabled delivery models, while partnering with senior engineers and architects on broader solution and platform decisions.
This role follows a hybrid work model, with a primary base in Bengaluru. While on-site presence is essential for key engagements, flexibility is offered for remote work based on business needs and team alignment.
Education: B.Tech / B.E. in software engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems, or a related field is required.
Experience: 6+ years of related experience.
