Job summary

Iris Software in India is seeking an experienced Software Asset Manager to oversee end-to-end software asset lifecycle, ensure license compliance, optimize usage, and drive cost efficiency across the organization.

You will manage procurement, allocation, renewal of licenses, handle licensing for Microsoft, VMware, SaaS apps and ManageEngine, monitor utilization, report on licenses vs usage, and collaborate with procurement, IT and finance.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on experience in software asset management and IT asset management.
• Experience in license management across procurement lifecycle and vendor management.
• Deep understanding of perpetual vs subscription licensing, including SaaS.
• Experience managing enterprise tools and licensing (Microsoft, VMware, ManageEngine, etc.).
• Strong analytical and reporting skills on license utilization and compliance.
• Ability to work independently as a lead and manage stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage complete software lifecycle: procurement, allocation, revocation, and renewal of licenses.
• Select licensing models, plans, and vendors based on business needs.
• Handle licensing for key platforms including Microsoft, SaaS apps, ManageEngine tools, Modern Workplace, VMware, AI tools and other licensing.
• Manage perpetual and subscription-based licensing models.
• Drive software asset consolidation and monitor utilization efficiency.
• Track accuracy of software asset inventory and generate reports (Total Licenses vs Used vs Free).
• Ensure compliance with licensing agreements and audits; collaborate with procurement, IT, and finance for renewals and contracts.
• Optimize license usage to reduce cost and eliminate redundancies.

This is an Individual Contributor role responsible for managing end-to-end software asset lifecycle, ensuring license compliance, optimizing software usage, and driving cost efficiency across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage complete software lifecycle: procurement, allocation, revocation, and renewal of licenses
• Select appropriate licensing models, plans, and vendors based on business needs
• Handle licensing for key platforms including:
  • Microsoft (O365, Azure, etc.)
  • SaaS applications
  • ManageEngine Tools & Products
  • Modern Workplace tools (Microsoft ecosystem,
  • VMware
  • Ai Tools & other licensing (ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub, Adobe Etc..)
• Manage both perpetual and subscription-based licensing models
• Drive software asset consolidation across the organization
• Monitor and improve software utilization efficiency
• Track and ensure accuracy of software asset inventory
• Generate and analyze reports: Total Licenses vs Used vs Free
• Ensure compliance with licensing agreements and support audits
• Collaborate with procurement, IT, and finance teams for contract and renewal management
• Optimize license usage to reduce cost and eliminate redundancies
• Strong understanding of IT Service Mgmt. Tool & CMDB

Key Skills & Experience:

• Strong experience in Software Asset Management (SAM) / IT Asset Management (ITAM)
• Hands-on experience with license management, procurement lifecycle, and vendor management
• Deep understanding of licensing models (perpetual vs subscription, SaaS licensing)
• Experience managing enterprise tools and licensing (Microsoft, VMware, ManageEngine, etc.)
• Strong analytical and reporting skills (license utilization, compliance tracking)
• Ability to work independently as a lead and manage stakeholders
