Job summary

Velvu Technologies seeks an experienced SMT Engineer in India to program and operate Panasonic SMT machines, set up lines for new and existing products, and optimize placement and cycle times.

You will troubleshoot programming and loading issues, coordinate with cross‑functional teams, and support SPI/AOI processes while maintaining quality and safety standards on the SMT line.

Qualifications

• Experience with Panasonic SMT machine programming and operation.
• Knowledge of SMT pick-and-place machines and feeder setup.
• Understanding of Gerber, BOM, centroid/XY data and component specs.
• Knowledge of SMT production processes and PCB assembly.
• Knowledge of solder paste printing, reflow processes and SMT defects.
• Ability to troubleshoot placement and programming errors.
• Knowledge of SMD components such as resistors, capacitors, ICs, connectors, LEDs and diodes.
• Good understanding of ESD and 5S practices.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and optimize SMT programs for pick-and-place machines.
• Perform PCB/component programming and feeder setup as per production requirements.
• Set up Panasonic SMT machines for new and existing products.
• Prepare and verify component placement data, coordinates, BOM, and machine programs.
• Optimize placement sequence, machine speed, feeder arrangement, and cycle time.
• Ensure correct component loading and feeder configuration.
• Coordinate with Production, Process Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams for smooth SMT operations.
• Troubleshoot programming, placement, feeder, component, and machine-related issues.
• Support NPI/new product introduction, including program preparation and first-off production.
• Analyze and reduce placement errors, component rejection, machine downtime, and production losses.
• Maintain SMT machine programs, backups, and revision control.
• Support SPI/AOI programming and process improvement where required.
• Ensure proper implementation of ESD, 5S, safety, and quality procedures on the SMT line.
• Monitor machine performance and take corrective action for recurring issues.
• Prepare production and programming-related reports and maintain required documentation.

Qualification Diploma / B.Tech / ITI / Electronics-related qualification with relevant SMT programming experience.
