Job summary

Agilent Technologies India Pvt Ltd. is seeking an Application Engineer in India to support OpenLab Sync workflows across diverse labs. You will translate customer needs into software configurations, build plugins, and ensure successful integrations with instruments and data portals.

The role requires hands-on lab experience, knowledge of LIMS/ELN/LES/SDMS, and programming in Java or Python, with strong communication and customer-facing skills. Travel up to 50% is possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field or solid relevant experience in application engineering.
• Hands-on laboratory experience in analytical chemistry, genomics, pharma, biopharma, Academia, etc.
• Experience with LIMS/ELN/LES/SDMS or laboratory workflow management systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of Java or Python with coding skills.
• Experience working directly with customers, stakeholders, or cross-functional teams is desirable.
• Fluent in English and strong communication skills.

OpenLab Sync (formerly SLIMS) is a platform that allows supervision of all stages a sample follows to the result. OpenLab Sync captures information about the sample, requests for measurements, and follows its entire workflow through the lab, supervising manual operating procedures, automated instrument steps, and calculations until the final report.

This role is ideal for candidates who combine hands-on laboratory experience with technical software implementation skills. Successful candidates typically have experience working in laboratory informatics, scientific software, LIMS, ELN, LES, or laboratory automation environments.

As an Application Engineer part of the Customer Success team in India, you will support our valued customers across our Lab informatics product solutions. This role offers you the opportunity to travel and explore a variety of labs, so it is vital to have an appetite for continuously learning about new software technology, instruments, applications, and consumables. In addition, applying communication skills, creativity, and a can-do approach is vital.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Analyze customers' needs and translate them into OpenLab Sync workflows
• Configure the OpenLab Sync platform to match the lab's requirements
• Build plugins for connecting instruments or displaying custom forms or portals
• Act as the customer voice to influence future product design to meet customer needs
• Script a lab's in-silico tools into our integration framework

Qualifications We are looking for motivated individuals with the following background:

• University Degree in Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Scientific Informatics, or a related discipline (or alternatively solid relevant experience in this application engineering field)
• Hands-on laboratory experience in analytical chemistry, biobanks, pharma, biopharma, genomics, NGS, Academia, etc.
• Preferred experience with LIMS, ELN, LES, SDMS, CDS, laboratory automation, scientific software, or laboratory workflow management systems.
• You have knowledge of programming languages such as Java or Python with proven coding skills.
• Experience working directly with customers, stakeholders, laboratory users, or cross-functional project teams is highly desirable.
• Full proficiency in English.
• On a personal level, you possess great problem solving / analytical skills, and you are eager to learn about new software technology, instruments, applications, and consumables.
• You have communication/interpersonal skills to interact at various levels, and you strive to provide excellent customer support.
• You enjoy both working within a team and autonomously.

This job has a full time weekly schedule. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
