Job Description
We are seeking a Site Engineer to coordinate site activities and oversee the installation, fabrication, inspection, and testing of mechanical equipment and piping. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, project managers, contractors, and site and office teams to ensure work meets project specifications, quality requirements, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate activities between the client, site team, and office team.
- Understand different types of work permits and ensure they are used appropriately.
- Coordinate with project managers and contractors to report daily progress and resolve site-level technical issues.
- Oversee the installation, erection, and alignment of mechanical equipment, piping, and structural steel.
- Monitor on-site metal fabrication, cutting, fitting, and welding to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Carry out or coordinate visual and NDT inspections, including VT, LPT, and MPI.
- Inspect incoming materials and verify they meet acceptance criteria.
- Monitor hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests.
- Maintain QA/QC records, including weld logs, fit-up reports, test packs, and final handover documentation.
- Follow safety requirements for working at height and in confined spaces.
- Apply an understanding of hydrocarbons and their behaviour to site work.
- Support effective manpower planning and utilisation, project ownership, and site commercial activities.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, piping isometrics, P&IDs, and welding symbols.
- Understanding of raw material grades, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Familiarity with pressure vessel codes and standards, including ASME Section VIII, PD 5500, and API, as well as statutory testing protocols.
- Knowledge of fabrication, welding, inspection, and pressure testing activities.
- Strong coordination and communication skills.
- Ability to manage manpower effectively and take ownership of assigned project activities.
- Awareness of site commercial requirements.
