Job summary

Google is seeking a Silicon DFT Engineer (PhD) to shape the future of AI/ML hardware acceleration. Based in Bengaluru, you will join a team driving TPU technology and developing custom silicon solutions powering Google's AI workloads.

You will verify complex digital designs focusing on TPU architecture within AI/ML-enabled systems, collaborating with architecture and silicon teams, and partnering with EDA vendors to advance testability features and manufacturing yield analysis.

Qualifications

• PhD required in Electronics & Communication, Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
• Experience with C++, Python, Verilog and with Synopsys/Cadence design tools.
• Strong background in DFT/DFX and silicon testing concepts.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architecture and silicon engineers to develop next-generation DFT/DFX features for large-scale SoCs.
• Design and implement software and hardware validation solutions for advanced testing (LBIST, MBIST, Scan compression).
• Research and integrate ML or semi-analytical models to address DFT challenges.
• Triage and debug post-silicon yields and failures with failure analysis and diagnostics.
• Write and review specifications for SoC testability and coordinate with EDA vendors.

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Level: Mid.

Minimum qualifications:

• PhD degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in programming languages (e.g., C++, Python, Verilog), Synopsys, Cadence tools.

Preferred qualifications:

• 2 years of experience in Silicon Engineering post PhD.
• Experience with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools in design, verification, DFT and implementation.
• Design for Test (DFT) knowledge (Boundary Scan, ATPG, MBIST).

Responsibilities

• Work with a group of architecture and silicon engineers to develop next-generation DFT/DFX features for large-scale SoCs.
• Design and implement software and hardware validation solutions for advanced testing, including logic BIST (LBIST), memory BIST (MBIST), and Scan compression.
• Research, develop, and integrate machine learning or semi-analytical models to solve complex DFT challenges.
• Triage, debug, and resolve high-priority post-silicon yield and structural failures by driving advanced failure analysis (FA) and volume diagnostics.
• Write and review technical specifications for SoC testability and partner with EDA vendors.
