Job Summary
IMW Engineering Pvt. Ltd. is looking for an experienced Shop Floor Manager to manage day-to-day machining operations and ensure achievement of production, quality, delivery, productivity and cost targets.
The candidate will be responsible for effective utilization of machines, manpower, tooling and other production resources while maintaining strong shop-floor discipline and process control.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage overall shop-floor machining operations and ensure smooth production flow.
- Plan and monitor daily, weekly and monthly production targets.
- Ensure optimum utilization of CNC, VMC, HMC, VTL and other machining machines.
- Monitor machine loading, productivity, cycle time, downtime and machine utilization.
- Ensure proper manpower deployment across machines and shifts.
- Coordinate closely with PPC, Programming, Quality, Maintenance, Stores and Dispatch.
- Ensure production as per approved drawings, processes and quality requirements.
- Monitor and control rejection, rework, scrap and process deviations.
- Monitor machine-wise tooling consumption, tool life and tooling cost, including inserts, cutters, drills and other critical tooling.
- Identify abnormal tooling consumption and take corrective action to improve tool utilization and reduce machining cost.
- Ensure proper handling and utilization of machines, tools, fixtures and other production resources.
- Monitor production bottlenecks and take timely corrective action.
- Review daily production performance, productivity and machine utilization MIS.
- Drive 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain shop-floor discipline and ensure adherence to company procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality and housekeeping standards.
- Lead and develop supervisors, operators and other shop-floor personnel.
- Escalate major production, quality, manpower, machine and cost-related issues to management.
Candidate Profile
- Diploma / BE / B. Tech in Mechanical / Production Engineering preferred.
- 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in machining / precision engineering / manufacturing.
- Strong hands-on experience in CNC, VMC, HMC and VTL machining operations.
- Experience in managing a multi-machine manufacturing shop floor.
- Strong understanding of production planning, manpower deployment, machine utilization and productivity improvement.
- Experience in tool life, tooling consumption and tooling cost control.
- Good knowledge of drawings, machining processes and production quality requirements.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Good coordination with cross-functional departments.
- Knowledge of 5S, Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing.
