Production Manager-CNC/VMC Precision Machining
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to lead plant production operations. You will turn the production plan into on‑time output while meeting quality, cost, productivity and safety targets. The role reports to the Plant Head.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Achieve daily, monthly and annual production targets as per the approved production plan.
- Plan, deploy and manage manpower across shifts, and ensure optimal machine loading and capacity utilisation.
- Drive improvement in OEE, productivity, machine utilisation and process efficiency.
- Monitor and reduce downtime, rejection, rework and process losses through Root Cause Analysis and CAPA.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement timely corrective actions.
- Coordinate with PPC, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, Purchase, NPD, Engineering and HR for smooth operations and on‑time delivery.
- Ensure production follows engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T and customer requirements.
- Work with the CNC/VMC programming team on process and production requirements.
- Support NPD and Engineering during new product development and production trials.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support Industry 4.0 / IIoT initiatives for real‑time production monitoring.
- Monitor production costs and identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Build team capability through training, skill development and performance management.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures and shop‑floor discipline.
- Prepare and present production KPI and performance reports to management.
Preferred Candidate Profile- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production or Industrial Engineering.
- 8-12 years of experience in precision manufacturing, automotive or engineering industries, with substantial experience leading production teams.
- Strong hands‑on knowledge of CNC/VMC machining and programming.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Proven track record in OEE improvement, Lean, Kaizen and RCA.
- Exposure to APQP, PPAP and production handover of new parts.
- Experience handling OEM / Tier‑1 customers and technical discussions is an added advantage.
- Strong leadership, communication and cross‑functional coordination skills.
- Able to work under production pressure and extended hours or shifts when required.
