Job summary

Job description

  • Plan, schedule, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime of CNC VMC machines and related equipment.
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to any machine breakdowns, diagnosing and troubleshooting faults to restore operations to normalcy.
  • Maintain and update CNC programming and PLC configurations as required for improved machine functionality and process optimization.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of engineering and technical personnel, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Source and procure specialist components, fixtures, and fittings necessary for machine repair and maintenance, maintaining quality and cost-efficiency.
  • Manage maintenance budgets with a focus on cost control while ensuring availability of resources and compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive statistical data and machine records to track performance trends, maintenance history, and inventory of parts.
  • Develop, document, and implement maintenance procedures and protocols to standardize best practices and maximize equipment reliability and lifespan.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence within the manufacturing division.
  • Ensure adherence to company safety policies and regulatory requirements in all maintenance activities to safeguard personnel and assets.

  • Applicants should possess a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, from a recognized institution.   • Additional certifications or training in CNC programming, PLC systems, and maintenance management will be advantageous, supporting the technical requirements of the role. Ongoing professional development is encouraged to stay abreast of technological advancements and industry best practices.
General Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in maintenance roles within a manufacturing setting is essential. Experience should encompass hands-on work with CNC VMC machines, including programming and fault diagnosis, and maintenance of automated electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams, coordinate maintenance operations, and contribute to budget management and procurement processes is expected. Experience with statistical analysis and product lifecycle management tools will enhance effectiveness in this position.
  • Strong record of maintaining machine reliability, reducing downtime, and supporting production goals within time and budget constraints are valuable indicators of candidate suitability.
Critical Experience
  • Proven expertise in CNC programming for vertical machining centers (VMC), including the ability to modify and optimize code for production efficiency.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), encompassing programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Hands-on skills in diagnosing complex electrical and mechanical faults in heavy manufacturing machinery and implementing effective repairs.
  • Experience in supervising multi-disciplinary technical teams, demonstrating leadership and fostering skill development.
  • Competency in managing maintenance-related budgets, vendor relationships, and inventory control of specialized components, fixtures, and fittings.
  • Proficiency in using product lifecycle management (PLM) software and statistical analysis for maintenance data and performance monitoring.
  • Ability to create, document, and enforce standardized maintenance procedures aligned with safety and quality standards in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
