Job summary

JSW Steel Limited is seeking a Shift Engineer to oversee the Steel Melting Shop during assigned shifts. The role requires deep knowledge of steel melting processes, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols to ensure continuous production and product quality.

The candidate will coordinate with cross-functional teams, troubleshoot operational issues, and drive process improvements. A minimum of 5 years in steel manufacturing with at least 2 years in a supervisory/shift lead role is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all activities within the Steel Melting Shop during the shift to ensure smooth operations.
• Monitor and control steel melting process parameters to maintain product quality and meet production targets.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule preventive and corrective maintenance of SMS equipment.
• Enforce safety standards and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
• Analyze operational data and troubleshoot deviations or malfunctions to minimize downtime.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize process efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.
• Prepare and maintain shift reports with production data, incidents, and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with quality control and production planning to align operations with manufacturing goals.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and operators to build technical capabilities.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
