The role requires 8 years of experience in sheet metal sourcing, a BE/BTech in mechanical engineering, and strong capabilities in strategic sourcing, supplier development, and procurement through Oracle ERP.

Qualifications

• 8 years of experience in sheet metal components sourcing.
• Proficient in Oracle ERP procurement and sourcing activities.
• Knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes and cost estimation.

Responsibilities

• Identify, onboard, and manage sheet metal fabrication, stamping, welding, and tooling suppliers.
• Conduct supplier capability assessments including capacity, quality systems, and financial stability.
• Prepare and evaluate RFQs using should-cost and Zero-Based Costing methodologies; develop cost breakdowns.
• Lead commercial negotiations on part cost, tooling, lead time, MOQ and terms.
• Perform supplier audits for capacity and quality; develop risk-mitigation strategies.
• Support New Product Development activities including prototype sourcing and tooling development.
• Diligently manage PRs/POs via Oracle ERP and maintain supplier records and reports.

Summary: The Sheet Metal Sourcing Engineer is responsible for developing and managing local and global suppliers for sheet metal components. The role focuses on supplier evaluation, strategic sourcing, RFQ management, cost optimization, supplier development, and ensuring timely procurement while meeting quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Development

• Identify, evaluate, develop, and onboard sheet metal fabrication, stamping, welding, and tooling suppliers.
• Build and manage a robust local and global supplier base to support business growth and supply continuity.
• Conduct supplier capability assessments covering manufacturing capacity, technical competency, quality systems, and financial stability.

RFQ & Cost Management

• Prepare and float RFQs to qualified suppliers.
• Analyse supplier quotations using should-cost models and Zero-Based Costing methodologies.
• Develop detailed cost breakdowns considering Raw material , Laser cutting ,Blanking ,CNC bending ,Welding , Powder coating / Painting , Tooling, Special process , Packing and logistics
• Benchmark supplier pricing and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Supplier Negotiation

• Lead commercial negotiations covering: Part cost , Tooling cost , Leadtime , MOQ ,Payment terms and Annual cost reduction Initiatives
• Drive cost optimization while maintaining quality, delivery, and supplier performance.

Supplier Capacity & Risk Management

• Perform supplier audits to evaluate: Laser cutting capacity ,Press brake capability , stamping lines, welding facilities , tool room capability, Powder coating facility & Production planning systems
• Monitor raw material price fluctuations .
• Develop alternate sourcing strategies to minimize supply chain risks and prevent production disruptions.

New Product Development (NPD)

• Support sourcing activities for new product development.
• Coordinate prototype sourcing, tooling development, and production readiness.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to achieve design-to-cost objectives.

Quality & Supplier Development

• Work closely with Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) teams to manage: APQP activities ,Prototype approval , PPAP documentation , Process Validation, and supplier corrective actions
• Ensure supplier compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.

Procurement Operations

• Create and manage Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs) through Oracle ERP.
• Monitor supplier delivery schedules and resolve supply issues proactively.
• Maintain sourcing documentation, supplier records, and procurement reports.

Technical Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes, including Laser cutting , CNC Bending , Stamping , Press Tool Manufacturing , welding , Powder coating , Fabrication and Assembly Processes
• Expertise in sheet metal cost estimation and should-cost analysis.
• Knowledge of Zero-Based Costing (ZBC) methodologies.
• Ability to interpret: 2D engineering drawings ,GD&T ,Material specifications, and Tolerance requirements
• Understanding of tooling design and manufacturing methods.
• Familiarity with quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and Control Plans.
• Proficiency in Oracle ERP for procurement and sourcing activities.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and supplier management skills.
