Job summary

Preet Brothers is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to design and develop sheet metal components and assemblies. You will prepare 2D/3D drawings and detailed manufacturing documents using CAD software, ensuring feasibility and adherence to timelines.

The role requires hands-on CAD experience, knowledge of bending, laser cutting, welding, and GD&T, as well as strong drawing interpretation and BOM preparation. Collaboration with production and quality teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 26 years of relevant experience in sheet metal design and product development.
• Hands-on experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar 3D CAD software.
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, including bending, laser cutting, punching, welding, and assembly.
• Experience in sheet metal component design, flat pattern development, bend allowance, and GD&T.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing drawings, and technical specifications.
• Experience in preparing BOMs and coordinating with production and fabrication teams.
• Candidates from sheet metal fabrication, industrial equipment manufacturing, machinery manufacturing, or enclosure/panel manufacturing industries will be preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and design documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop sheet metal components, assemblies, and fabricated structures as per project requirements.
• Prepare 2D drawings, 3D models, assembly drawings, and detailed manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other CAD software.
• Develop sheet metal designs considering bending, punching, laser cutting, fabrication, welding, and assembly processes.
• Perform material selection, thickness calculations, bend allowance, flat pattern development, and tolerance analysis.
• Prepare BOMs (Bill of Materials), part lists, and technical specifications.
• Coordinate with production, fabrication, quality, and purchase teams to ensure design feasibility and smooth manufacturing.
• Modify existing designs based on production feedback, customer requirements, and engineering changes.
• Ensure designs meet dimensional accuracy, quality standards, cost-effectiveness, and delivery timelines.
• Resolve design-related issues during manufacturing and assembly.
• Maintain engineering drawings, design documents, and revision records.
