Job summary

VV Graincare is seeking a senior mechanical design engineer in Bengaluru to develop 2D/3D sheet-metal models and corresponding drawings. You will optimize fabrication processes, create flat patterns for laser cutting, and coordinate with production teams to ensure feasibility from design to final assembly.

The role requires extensive experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD, strong 2D drafting and 3D modeling skills, and the ability to generate accurate BOMs and manufacturing documents.

Qualifications

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 25 years of relevant experience in sheet metal engineering, fabrication, machine design, or manufacturing industry.
• Strong hands-on experience in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Good knowledge of 2D drafting and 3D modeling of sheet metal components and assemblies.
• Experience in sheet-metal flat pattern development, bend allowance, K-factor, and bend deduction.

Responsibilities

• Develop 2D and 3D models of sheet-metal components, assemblies, and fabricated structures using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Prepare detailed fabrication and manufacturing drawings with dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, welding symbols, and other necessary details.
• Create accurate sheet-metal flat patterns / developments for laser cutting, bending, and fabrication.
• Prepare 2D nesting layouts to optimize sheet utilization and minimize material wastage.
• Perform 3D modeling and assembly design based on customer requirements, engineering specifications, and production requirements.
• Prepare and maintain BOM for products, assemblies, and sub-assemblies.
• Develop cutting lists, bend details, fabrication drawings, and assembly drawings.
• Coordinate with Production, Fabrication, Welding, Quality, Purchase, and Stores teams for smooth execution of designs.
• Modify existing designs based on production feedback, customer requirements, and engineering changes.
• Ensure designs are suitable for laser cutting, bending, welding, fabrication, powder coating, and assembly processes.
