Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Thane, India, seeks a Protection Engineer to drive drawings, cost inputs, and technical reviews for substation projects. You will coordinate with sales and clients to secure approvals, manage protection configurations, and ensure delivery with optimal costs.

The role requires hands-on experience with SIPROTEC platforms, OMICRON tools, and IEC 61850 communications. Opportunity to influence protection schemes and project profitability.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Power Quality and Substation Automation systems.
• Experience with protection schemes including Line Distance, Line Differential, Transformer Main & Backup, Busbar Protection.
• Strong understanding of IEC 61850 communication, GOOSE, and relay configuration tools.

Responsibilities

• Ensure technical & costing inputs from Sales-Acquisition for drawing preparations.
• Conduct contract-review and clarify technical queries for drawings.
• Coordinate with client/consultant with sales for drawings approval & manufacturing clearance.
• Resolve technical issues with Client to minimize cost & improve profitability of the order.
• Costing at various stages of order execution and monitor actual vs planned cost.
• Manage changes via Purchase Order Amendment incl. delivery extensions.

Job Summary:

Ensure that required technical & costing inputs are received from Sales-Acquisition for initiating drawing preparations.

Conduct contract-review and clarify all technical queries for preparation & completion of drawings.

Co-ordinate with client/ consultant along with sales for approval of drawings & manufacturing clearance.

Resolve technical issues with Client to minimize cost & improve profitability of the order

Costing at various stages of order execution & monitor actual order cost vis-à-vis planned cost.

Claim management in case of scope change & obtain Purchase Order Amendment incl. delivery extensions.

Ensure timely Factory Loading to meet contractual delivery dates.

Siemens protection platforms such as SIPROTEC 4 / SIPROTEC 5 / Reyrolle

Knowledge of Power Quality and Substation Automation systems

Strong understanding of IEC 61850 communication, GOOSE applications, and relay configuration tools

Experience with control logic creation (BCPU / BCU) and configuration files (SCD / ICD / CID)

Knowledge of industrial communication protocols used in protection systems

Advanced experience with OMICRON test equipment and Test Universe (TU 4.20 or higher)

Testing modules including Distance, Line Differential, Transformer Differential, State Sequencer, Ramping, Transplay, and OCC files

Experience with protection schemes including:

Line Distance Protection

Line Differential Protection

Transformer Main & Backup Protection

Busbar Protection (Low / High Impedance)
