Job summary

ABB Robotics is seeking an experienced field service engineer in Bengaluru to deliver installation, commissioning and preventive maintenance of ABB robotic systems at customer sites in India. You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, software, and PLC issues, provide onsite/remote support and customer training, and travel across the region to ensure high service levels.

The role requires 5–8 years in industrial robotics, strong ABB robot know-how, and the ability to adapt to evolving automation

Qualifications

• Diploma / BE / B. Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 5-8 years of hands-on experience in industrial robotics, with ABB Robots, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of industrial robotics applications, robotic systems, and automation technologies.
• Solid understanding of ABB robot programming, operation, maintenance, and application support, with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities.
• Good understanding of PLCs and related robotic peripheral equipment.
• Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies, products, and evolving customer requirements in automation and robotics.

Responsibilities

• Deliver installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repair services for ABB robotic systems and associated automation equipment at customer sites.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, software, and PLC communication issues to minimize downtime and improve system reliability.
• Provide onsite and remote technical support, conduct customer training, and build strong customer relationships through effective communication.
• Manage field service activities across India, including extensive travel (60-70%), timely response to customer requirements, and regular reporting of service status and project progress.
• Support robot system integration and identify opportunities for service and business growth.

This Position reports to:

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute robot service activities as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines.

The role requires strong expertise in industrial robotics, troubleshooting, and automation technologies, along with the ability to deliver high-quality customer service, ensure system reliability, and support continuous improvement of robotic applications.

This role is contributing to the customer service in Bangalore and South region.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Deliver installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repair services for ABB robotic systems and associated automation equipment at customer sites.
• Accountable for diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, software, and PLC communication issues to minimize downtime, improve system reliability, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Provide onsite and remote technical support, conduct customer training, and build strong customer relationships through effective communication and responsive service.
• Manage field service activities across India, including extensive travel (60-70%), timely response to customer requirements, and regular reporting of service status and project progress.
• Support robot system integration, identify opportunities for service and business growth, and recommend improvements that enhance customer operations and system performance.

Qualifications for the role

• Diploma / BE / B. Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Minimum 5-8 Years of experience in industrial robotics, with hands-on expertise in ABB Robots, robot applications, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of industrial robotics applications, robotic systems, and automation technologies.
• Sound understanding of ABB robot programming, operation, maintenance, and application support, with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities.
• Good understanding of industrial automation systems, PLCs, and related robotic peripheral equipment.
• Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies, products, and evolving customer requirements in the automation and robotics industry.
