Job summary

Uhlmann India invites applications for a service engineer to install, commission, and provide on-site technical support for pharmaceutical packaging machines across India. You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and PLC issues, perform preventive maintenance per GMP, and train customer teams.

The role requires 2–6 years in technical service, engineering in Mechatronics or related fields, proficiency with CRM/Jira/SAP/MS Office, and willingness to travel domestically and occasionally

Qualifications

• Mechatronics/mechanical/electrical background and 2–6 years in technical service.
• Experience with pharmaceutical packaging machinery is a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and PLC issues.
• Good documentation and GMP/21 CFR Part 11/IQ/OQ/PQ alignment.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and provide after‑sales service for packaging machines.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and PLC issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance per GMP standards.
• Train customer teams on operation, format changes, and troubleshooting.
• Prepare service reports, calibration documents, IQ/OQ/PQ documentation.
• Ensure GMP, safety, and regulatory compliance.

You ensure that our pharmaceutical packaging machines are reliably installed, commissioned, and technically supported at our customers’ sites across India. With your solid technical expertise, you solve complex challenges, secure high machine availability, and make a significant contribution to customer satisfaction and sustainable business success. Together with the service team, you work on projects, optimize processes, and support our customers in maintaining stable and efficient production operations. Through your commitment, you strengthen service quality in the region and play an important role in further developing our portfolio.

Unbox your job - Your responsibilities

• Installation, commissioning, and after‑sales service for packaging machines
• Diagnosis and resolution of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and PLC‑related issues
• Execution of preventive maintenance in accordance with GMP standards
• Training customer teams in operation, format changes, and troubleshooting
• Preparation of service reports, calibration documents, and IQ/OQ/PQ documentation
• Compliance with all GMP, safety, and regulatory requirements
• Spare parts management and maintenance of service history in CRM/QMS
• Support of defined key accounts and monitoring of ongoing customer projects
• Extensive travel within India and occasional international travel (up to 4–5 weeks at a time)

• Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Engineering (Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical) and 2–6 years of experience in technical service, ideally with blister, cartoning, or end‑of‑line systems
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills, plus experience with PLC, HMI, and pharmaceutical packaging machinery
• Good communication and documentation skills, and confident work according to GMP, 21 CFR Part 11, and IQ/OQ/PQ standards
• Proficient in CRM, Jira, SAP, and MS Office
• High willingness to travel within India and occasionally internationally
• Strong customer orientation, ownership mindset, and enthusiasm for teamwork in the service department
