About the role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior VMware Infrastructure Engineer to manage, secure, and optimize enterprise VMware virtualization environments supporting business-critical infrastructure.

This role is responsible for VMware administration, platform hardening, lifecycle management, performance optimization, automation, and advanced troubleshooting across enterprise virtual infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will work closely with infrastructure, security, database, and network teams to ensure high availability, operational stability, and continuous improvement of VMware platforms.

Key Responsibilities

VMware Administration & Infrastructure Hardening

Administer, monitor, and optimize VMware vSphere environments including vCenter and ESXi clusters.

• Perform proactive infrastructure health monitoring, performance analysis, and capacity planning.
• Manage VMware lifecycle operations including patching, upgrades, firmware maintenance, and platform modernization initiatives.
• Implement and maintain VMware security hardening standards aligned with CIS benchmarks and enterprise security policies.
• Administer virtualization storage environments including vSAN, datastores, and storage performance optimization.
• Manage high-availability configurations including HA, DRS, and cluster resilience.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex VMware infrastructure, host, storage, and performance issues.
• Support infrastructure maintenance activities, change windows, and disaster recovery testing initiatives.

Automation & Operational Efficiency

• Develop and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell and PowerCLI.
• Automate infrastructure health checks, reporting, patch validation, and operational workflows.
• Drive operational improvements through scripting, process standardization, and infrastructure optimization.
• Maintain infrastructure documentation, operational procedures, and technical runbooks.

• Infrastructure Collaboration & Delivery
• Collaborate with Security, Network, Windows, Cloud, and Database teams on infrastructure initiatives.
• Participate in architecture reviews, platform enhancements, and modernization projects.
• Support enterprise backup, recovery, and business continuity initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership during infrastructure incidents and major platform changes.
• Own assigned infrastructure deliverables, optimization initiatives, and platform improvement projects.

Required Experience

• 6+ years of strong hands‑on experience with VMware vSphere 7.x/8.x environments. 6+ years of hands‑on VMware Infrastructure Administration experience.
• Strong experience with VMware vSphere 7.x/8.x environments.

• Ability to independently manage enterprise virtualization environments.

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting large‑scale enterprise production environments.
• Experience with VMware vSAN.
• Exposure to disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Familiarity with infrastructure security and compliance frameworks.
• Experience working in manufacturing, industrial, or mission‑critical environments.

Certification Preferences

• VMware VCP / VCAP certifications preferred.
