Nestlé Nespresso Digital and Tech Team in Bengaluru, India is seeking a Senior UI & API SDET to own and evolve UI and API automation frameworks, ensuring scalability and reliability across product and engineering groups. This role partners with Product, DevOps and QA teams to accelerate automation adoption, improve coverage, and reduce delivery risk, reporting to the Automation Engineering Architect.

The Role:

As a Senior UI & API SDET, you will be responsible for the ownership, design, and continuous evolution of Nespressos UI and API automation frameworks, ensuring they are scalable, stable, reusable, and fully integrated into DevSecOps and CI/CD practices. Working under the technical direction of the Automation Engineering Architect, you will establish and maintain automation capabilities that enable standardized, reliable, and efficient automated testing across Product and Engineering teams.

You will collaborate closely with Product teams, DevOps engineers, Architects, and Quality Engineering teams to drive automation adoption, improve automation coverage, and reduce delivery risks through fast and reliable feedback. As a framework owner and technical leader, you will support teams in implementing automation solutions, resolving framework-related challenges, and adopting engineering best practices that promote sustainable automation at scale.

In This Role, You Will:

• Own, maintain, and evolve UI and API automation frameworks, ensuring scalability, stability, maintainability, and reuse across teams.
• Design and provide shared automation libraries, utilities, reporting solutions, and reusable assets that accelerate automation adoption.
• Integrate automated UI and API testing into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices, enabling fast and reliable feedback loops.
• Define and promote automation standards, engineering practices, and framework usage guidelines across Product and Engineering teams.
• Support contract testing patterns, visual regression testing capabilities, and testability-by-design principles where appropriate.
• Leverage AI-assisted engineering practices to improve automation development, framework evolution, test optimisation, and defect analysis.
• Support squads in troubleshooting automation issues, stabilising test execution, and improving automation coverage and reliability.
• Mentor and coach automation engineers while contributing to Communities of Practice, standards, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What We’re Looking For:

• 7+ years of experience in Test Automation, Quality Engineering, or Software Engineering.
• Strong hands‑on experience with UI automation frameworks, particularly Playwright or equivalent modern automation technologies.
• Strong experience designing and implementing API automation frameworks and automated validation strategies.
• Proven experience owning, designing, and continuously evolving reusable automation frameworks at scale.
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or equivalent.
• Strong software engineering background including version control, code reviews, coding standards, design patterns, and maintainability practices.
• Experience working in Agile, DevOps, product‑led, or federated delivery environments.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills with proven ability to stabilise automation execution and reduce flaky tests.
• Experience enabling and supporting multiple teams through framework adoption, coaching, and technical guidance.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence through technical expertise.
• Experience using AI‑assisted engineering tools to improve automation development, productivity, documentation, or quality analysis.

Extra Skills That Set You Apart:

• Experience with contract testing, consumer‑driven contracts, and service virtualization techniques.
• Experience implementing visual regression testing and UI quality validation solutions.
• Knowledge of cloud‑native architectures, microservices, event‑driven systems, and modern application architectures.
• Experience contributing to Communities of Practice, automation standards, governance initiatives, or reusable engineering assets.
