Job summary

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited in Chennai seeks a Senior Engineer - Transmission Design to join the automotive transmission team. The role requires 6–10 years in transmission design and development, with a clear understanding of manual transmissions and subsystems, including gear and shaft design, synchronizers, and housing/bearing selection.

Proficiency in 3D CAD (UG NX preferred, CATIA), CAE for transmission, DFMEA/DFC/DFM/DFS, detailing, tolerance stack‑up and GD&T BOMs is essential.

Qualifications

• Clear understanding of manual transmission and its subsystems.
• Adequate knowledge on Gear & shaft, Synchronizer, shift system, housing design and bearing selection.
• Hands on experience of 3D CAD software like UG NX (preferred).
• Adequate knowledge in CAE related to transmission.
• Adequate knowledge in DFMEA, DFC, DFM and DFS.
• Knowledge in detailing, tolerance stack up and GD&T BOM preparation and maintaining.
• Casting and machining process knowledge.
• Ability to interact with development team and supplier for component development.
• Versatile to work with support system teams and address integration related concern.
• Ability to resolve vehicle level integration and validation concerns.
• Ability to address the manufacturing and build issues with supplier and plant team.
• Time management for self & CFT for on time delivery of the project.

Responsibilities

• Interact with internal teams and suppliers for component development.
• Address integration-related concerns and vehicle-level validation.
• Coordinate with CAE for simulation inputs.
• Travel as required by project needs.

• Graduate/PG Engineer (Mechanical or related streams). Diploma Engineers also can be considered based on interview

• Ability to plan activity and do the work to align the project timeline

• Think alternatively to address to concern
• Interact with internal teams and suppliers for component development and build issues
• Open to travel based on project need
• Candidates who are likely to stay on for long term are preferred
• Please ensure CTC is at ~ mid of band
