Job summary

IT By Design in Chandigarh recruits a Senior System Administrator to provide back-end infrastructure support and second-level service desk help for MSP clients. The role covers workstations, servers, printers, networks, and vendor software with emphasis on customer service.

You will manage Windows servers, Hyper‑V, VMware, Azure, AWS, and storage (SAN/NAS), along with AD/DNS/DHCP/IIS, ensuring reliable, secure operations and prompt ticket resolution in line with SLAs.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of IT or related domain.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Education: Graduate in CS or related field.
• At least 2 years of end-user technical support experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional IT support to customers with a focus on customer service.
• Monitoring IT infrastructure of clients and administration.
• Drive problem investigations and resolution as required.
• Troubleshooting Windows server issues.
• Monitor the network, firewalls, switches, and access points.
• Analyze network alerts and diagnose network errors.
• Manage and troubleshoot physical and virtual servers.
• Hyper‑V, VMware, Azure, and AWS administration.
• NAS, SAN storage administration and troubleshooting.
• Plan upgrades and updates of infrastructure.
• Resolve all tickets in a timely and professional manner per SLA.

Managed Service Providers (MSPs) are always looking for skilled technicians who are responsible for handling back-end infrastructure support as well as advanced second-level support of service requests in a professional and timely manner and managing the activities and responsibilities of the service desk team. This relates to all technology, including workstations, servers, printers, networks, and vendor-specific hardware and software.

Senior System Administrators have effective communication skills, problem-solving skills, experience with managing servers and SMB network infrastructures, and advanced experience in end-user support. Success for them is when they can confidently interact with the user and solve a complex infrastructure-related problem.

Education and Qualifications:

• 2-3 years of IT or related domain
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Education: Graduate (Any stream) preferably in computer science or a related field
• At least 2 years of experience in end-user technical support

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

• Provide professional IT support to customers with a focus on customer service.
• Monitoring IT infrastructure of clients and administration.
• Drive problem investigations and resolution as required.
• Troubleshooting Windows server issues.
• Monitor the network i.e., firewalls, switches, and access points.
• Analyze network alerts and diagnose network errors.

Must Have:

• Hands‑on experience with Wintel and Networking.
• Strong customer service experience, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Hands‑on experience with Server and Network Administration and Troubleshooting
• Good knowledge and experience of Server Roles i.e., AD, DNS, DHCP, IIS, File & Print, RDS, etc.
• Hands‑on experience working on Hyper‑V and VMware.
• Advanced knowledge of Firewalls, Switching, and Routing.
• Knowledge of backups and storage i.e., SAN and NAS
• Hands‑on experience with Wintel networking
• Experienced in networking monitoring tools
• Experience with data center monitoring and ops is good to have
