N-able Technologies Ltd. in Bengaluru is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead design, implementation, and integration of new features across complex software products, services, or components.

You will serve as the technical leader, shaping architecture and work plans in line with the product vision. You will mentor team members, drive best practices, and deliver high-quality code while collaborating with Sales, Support, Customers, and Product Management to build scalable cloud-native

Qualifications

• 15+ years of expert understanding of large-scale distributed apps built on Python and Go or Java.
• Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux environments.
• Experience designing end-to-end, cloud-native platforms on AWS or Azure.
• Strong knowledge of software design, testing, and product design practices.
• Strong communication to translate complex architectures to non-technical audiences.

What You'll Do

The Staff Software Engineer supervises the design, implementation, and integration of new features across complex software products, services, or components. Serving as the technical leader of the unit, this role is also responsible for the creation of architecture and work plans across projects based on high-level vision and executing high-quality code design at all levels.

• Develops high-quality code for complex tasks.
• Leads the team in adopting best practices and delivering optimal solutions.
• Provides technical mentorship to team members, fostering continuous growth and development.
• Works with other Staff Engineers to align with technologies and solutions across multiple teams.
• Prepares and delivers engineering-related presentations, both internally and externally.
• Demonstrates expertise and ownership across a wide set of components, products, and/or services.
• Implements complex stories and fixes issues across multiple layers, writes unit tests, and improves unit test framework.
• Without high-level architecture plans, creates code and software architecture of complex features with multiple components, using OOP principles and design patterns.
• Reviews architecture and designs from other Architects and Staff Engineers, and identifies issues early.
• Writes new automated tests, and add the enhancement to the test framework/library when required. Proactively suggests improvements in the testing architecture, reviews, and accepts new concepts.
• Reviews and enhances the usability of implemented features, and follows existing usability guidelines.
• Troubleshoots, debugs, and isolates complex issues, and proposes solutions.
• Uses low-level operating systems knowledge to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Collaborates with Sales, Support, Customers, and other external teams to resolve escalations & customer issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative measures.
• Researches and finds optimal solutions for complex stories/epics.
• Works in collaboration with Product Management, Architects, and other solution leaders to design and implement complex, cross-team features, and stories.
• Proactively suggest enhancements to building frameworks and tools to streamline development activities.
• Defines and delivers valuable, usable, and testable user stories, on time, without supervision.

What You'll Bring

• 15+ years of expert understanding of large-scale distributed applications built on python AND GoLang OR Java
• Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux environments
• Proven ability to design, prototype, and validate end-to-end solutions for large-scale,distributed, cloud-native platforms with AWS (EC2, RDS, EKS, S3, etc.) or Azure .
• Demonstrated proficiency in multiple areas of programming (e.g., web development, concurrency, non-blocking I/O, algorithms, etc.)
• Very good knowledge of commercial software design and development practices
• Highly skilled in the following areas: Coding, Software Design, Testing, Test Automation, and Product Design
• Ability to positively impact business and technical outcomes
• Marked interest in exploring and utilizing new technologies
• Demonstrated mastery of one or more programming languages
• Familiarity with CI/CD best practices
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies
• Effective at translating highly complex technical architectures into clear narratives for non-technical audiences
