About the Role
As a Sr Staff Developer, you'll take leadership in designing and building backend services, mentoring junior developers, driving architectural decisions, and collaborating with frontend engineers, security teams, and DevOps.
What You’ll Do
- Architect, develop and maintain scalable backend services.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs, GraphQL endpoints, and micro‑services to support frontend applications.
- Optimize system performance, security, and reliability for large‑scale cloud applications.
- Collaborate with front‑end developers, security teams, and DevOps engineers to drive backend innovation.
- Work with databases to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Implement authentication, authorisation, and security best practices.
- Guide and mentor junior developers, fostering a culture of growth and collaboration.
- Continuously improve development processes and promote backend best practices.
- Work with React/TypeScript to ensure seamless integration between frontend and backend components.
What You Bring
- 12+ years of experience in backend development, including full‑stack exposure.
- Expertise in Go, Python, Java, or similar, and experience with Databricks.
- Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and micro‑services architecture.
- Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Proficiency in asynchronous programming, multithreading, and performance optimisation.
- Familiarity with message queues such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS.
- Strong understanding of security best practices, authentication, and authorisation mechanisms.
- Proficiency with AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, ECS) and familiarity with Azure services.
- Experience with AI‑native tools such as LangChain, LangFuse.
- Bonus: containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes/ECS) and cloud‑native architectures.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity products (XDR, MDR, SOC) and frameworks (NIST, MITRE).
- Strong experience with Git version control.
- Interest in cybersecurity and security operations.
